Quote by Austin Farrar
The relationship between rational argument (evidence) and belief.
"Though argument does not create conviction, lack of it destroys belief.
What seems to be proved may not be embraced: but what no one shows the ability to defend is quickly abandoned.
Rational argument does not create belief, but it maintains a climate in which belief may flourish."

If I may introduce myself, my name is [name withheld] and live in the Mesa Arizona area, and would like you to know how much I appreciate the work you've done on DNA in the Book of Mormon,... I have been an Institute director and teacher, worked for BYU in the Religion Dept. and in the Religious Study Center, and worked for the church doing specialized scripture research, and now lead LDS scripture tours mostly to the middle east and church history sites. 25 years ago I realized that the statements of Joseph Smith did not jive with the standard theories about the Book of Mormon lands, and I refused to teach those traditions and theories. In working for the Church I was told to use for research only: 1) the scriptures 2) Joseph Smith and 3) the words of the Prophets, while they were prophets. All else was to be considered opinion. This is why I couldn't go along with the traditional sites of Book of Mormon Lands, as well as numerous textual evidences within the Book itself. My fields of study were ancient languages and religions of the Ancient Near East, and have degrees in Hebrew, Egyptology, The History of Religion, and others. Many years ago I had a paper published in a book honoring Hugh Nibley called "By Study and Also by Faith" vol. 1, after viewing your DVD I remembered an article in the same volume by Cyrus Gordon, then the foremost scholar in Semitic languages in the world. Gordon spoke of the mounds in the river valleys in the United States and the Hebrew wittings there, oceanic migrations to there and even old Middle Eastern coins found in some of these mounds. Another note on the textural evidence has something to do with the Semitic way of writing and that is a phrase that should not be over looked which is "this land" in the Book of Mormon that phrase means "where I/we stand" i.e. "this is the place" along with the statements about the New Jerusalem by Christ and Moroni it always uses the phrase "this land" the statement "the land" is more general but "this land" is important with the modern prophecies. Like so many other things science has again proved that Joseph Smith is a prophet and did know what he talked about. ; It will be a long and tedious fight to get those who have spent, and earned so much money on the Central America theories as well as their reputations and books, to give credit to Joseph Smith and the DNA evidence. The truth will prevail.
I believe that Brother Meldrum has spoken familiar words -words that I felt before I ever heard him speak. Especially the info concerning the Book of Mormon scriptures; the scriptures that mentioned the Promised Land of God, and the land and city of refuge for the weary, tattered, and down-trodden. The scripture that spoke of Constitutional law sounded a large nerve thumping motion into my mind and heart. I had always felt that this, the United States, fulfilled the part of a land having no king over it, and was the light shining bright on the hill. This land that was protected by God right from the beginning. Brother Meldrum bought so much to the front and now we have a new direction to think and research. A new direction to show those that might ponder and be curious, and seek out the truth that is scripturally founded, as well as, physically sound. It is with great pleasure to know and possess Brother Meldrum's research materials. I don't understand how anyone with an open mind after learning about the information available can really believe that the Book of Mormon setting was not located in North America.
I have attended a few of the live presentations and purchased a few of the educational materials and have not only been astounded by the evidence but feel the Spirit very strongly during these experiences. I have also shared these with many others who have also thoroughly enjoyed them and bought some too. Thank you so much for all of your years of work bringing this truly exciting information to the world! I look forward to more of your evidences and updates. The Book of Mormon somehow seems more complete now that " I know" where it all took place.
I have been following this research since we had a visit from Wayne May in our chapel a few years ago. I have shared what I can with others but sometimes it takes a special opportunity for friends or family to see what an influence this information can have on spreading the Gospel. Our son is serving a mission in Australia and recently came across a less active Maori member. He had heard about connections his ancestors reportedly have with the people of the Book of Mormon but had a hard time connecting with the Mesoamerican model. I shipped off some of the DVDs and articles to my son and he shared them with this man. We have been told it has awakened him to a whole new level of appreciation for the Book of Mormon. He didn't doubt the truthfulness of Book of Mormon, just had difficulty visualizing the events taking place in Central America. As a history buff this information intrigued him. He is making great progress returning to activity in the church.
I have been taking an anthropology class at the local college, the instructor who is not LDS but is Native American, (Ojibwa) is of the opinion that some of the Native Americans came to this country by ship. I loaned him my DVD "lost civilizations" and have yet to be able to get it back. The more I learn about the languages and oral traditions of the various Native American tribes the more I see just how much correlation there is with the work "the Firm Foundation" is doing.
I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager in 1963. I have always known my way of personal testimony where the Book of Mormon lands were located. I have shared that testimony with my family. I was truly touched by the Book of Mormon Evidence - 5 DVD series and The Lost Civilization of North America - DVD documentary. I received a great opportunity to "RE-educate" my grandchildren when a teacher in school had told them that "all things" that were found in Mounds had been proven to be a hoax. We had a family home evening and watched, The Lost Civilization of North America - DVD documentary. LDS families need all we can find to re-educate our children in a day-on, day-off, onslaught of misinformation given to them in our schools. Rod Meldrum and The FIRM Foundation. Thank you so very much for your research and hard work to bring this tool to us.
I was the set up supervisor at the Zermatt resort and spa, at the first conference, while the conference was going on I was in charge of refreshing the rooms, during that time I saw several parts of the different presentations, the one that intrigued me the most was with Wayne May, and his findings, shortly after Rod Meldrum gave the closing remarks. I have never been touched by another conference like this one before, due to the info from this event, I have become an active member of the Church, become an elder, and been sealed to my family. The story is much longer due to space this is the crunched down version, please know I am eternally grateful for this work and the change it has made in my life and the life of my family. I have a testimony of the gospel and the atoning sacrifice our Savior made for us, Rod and I have become dear friends and I am thankful to have people like him who care enough about the salvation of others to spread the gospel.
The FIRM Foundation's premise that the Nephite civilization existed primarily in the eastern portion of North America is very unique. More importantly, FIRM's research and supporting evidence from the realms of Church history, modern prophecy (especially that of Joseph Smith), geography, genetics, anthropology, and scripture (especially the Book of Mormon) makes their conclusions exceptionally compelling. Even a cursory glance at the evidence should make it impossible for anyone with any real interest in Book of Mormon geography to disregard it out of hand. It makes sense. It fits. And for me it has resolved many lingering questions I had about the prominent Central & South American models for the locale of the Book of Mormon. If the question of where the events of the Book of Mormon occurred is at all interesting to you, you should absolutely take a look at what the FIRM Foundation has to offer. You will not be disappointed.
We love this work. It is inspiring, educational, and exciting. We were invited to the first meeting ever held and have been smitten by the knowledge we have gained and the spirit of the work. We know that through this work great things will come to pass. The Land of Freedom is this land and we know that it is still the Promised Land from Adam and Eve, the Jaredites, the Nephites, and the Gentiles who have fled from other places to come to the Land of Liberty. We are so excited to see this work come forth and blossom and we know that it will continue to grow and bring forth great fruit. "And God shall show unto you that that which I have written is true." Moroni 10:29 The word show is used rather than testify which would indicate that He will show unto us. We believe that in these last days many great things will come to light.
When talking to members of the Church about geography of the Book of Mormon, most agree that a North American (Heartland) model is what they have always thought of as to where it most likely took place. I would say the majority of these members have grown up with indoctrination of the Mesoamerican tradition. But most seem not to have a real connection with its geography. Even those, like myself, who have traveled to Central and South America and seen the ruins and have met the ancient cultures there, do not feel a great closeness to those sites as far as it relates to Book of Mormon narrative. However, once they have been introduced to the body of evidence of the North American Model, including the DNA, they seem to feel excitement and relief all at the same time. It now all seems to make sense to them.
Because I am a full-time seminary teacher for the Church, I am not able to publically endorse this even though I like what you do and what you stand for. Keep up the good work!
As a former South American missionary that served amongst indigenous people, the correct geography of the B of M always intrigued me. After seeing the research that supports the current heartland model, there is no doubt in my mind that the Nephites settled in what is now the United States of America. It's hard to believe that anyone would believe otherwise after taking a look at the abundance of evidence. Furthermore, it has enhanced my reading experience of the B of M. The first time I re-read the B of M with the new geographical Heartland model, the same ancient people that I've been reading about for 10+ years really came to life for me. I can't overstate how much I appreciate the effort that has gone into this research and project.
As a convert to the church it never made sense to me that the plates were found in New York but the common belief was that the stories took place in Central America. I was very excited when I first learned about Rod Meldrum’s theory and viewed the original DVD as soon as I got it home. Once I saw Rod’s evidence and proposed sites the stories in the Book of Mormon became more graphic and alive in my imagination. And the accounts from D&C and Zion’s Camp made more sense. I have embraced Rod's theory's and believe he has revealed the plain and obvious truth that has been over looked due to a popular legend that is incongruent with the facts. The Gospel is true and the evidence will continue to come forth in these later days.
As an LDS artist and sculptor, I set out to research Book of Mormon cultures and represent them to the best of my ability. After intense study of various Mesoamerican cultures I became frustrated and confused about what I was finding. I decided to put my research on a shelf. Around this time I heard mention of strange artifacts being found in North America. From this first introduction I felt like this was an important new direction for my research. Soon after, I purchased 3 books by Wayne May at Deseret Book. It was not long until I was totally convinced to look to North America for BofM research. Then I was given Rods CD by some missionaries from Provo. This powerful CD took the discussion to the next level. Momentum is increasing and the future is sure bring to pass promises contained within the Book of Mormon itself. What a thrill to be associated with such a work.
Being of Native American ancestry from the southeast and southern states areas, and knowing the legends passed down from my ancestors, I know this is a great work proving the ancestral legends and helping an understanding to these legends. I feel the DNA proof is helping many know and understand the ancestral legends to not just be legends but truths they have somewhat been exaggerated or miscued due to no written language among some of the tribes, but after fitting the legends together and the truths initiated by the FIRM foundation they can be brought on as one all encompassing truth. It strengthens my testimony of the gospel and also why my ancestors did certain things in their lives. It will be a glorious day in the future when Christ returns as promised to my people and reigns here once again.
Bro. and Sis. Meldrum are wholly dedicated to the truth and promulgating the truth about the Book of Mormon lands here on the North American continent. They do not gloss over nor ignore opposing viewpoints but strive to uncover and present their well-researched and reasoned positions with dignity, respect and charitable love. I have worked personally with the Meldrum’s in preparing Rod's books for publication and at the Zermatt convention. I learned first-hand of their dedication to truth and accuracy. I challenge anyone holding a Mesoamerican perspective on the Book of Mormon lands to read and view Rod's material with an open mind and a Christ-like attitude. They might be surprised at what new insights they gain!
My husband and I purchased the Book of Mormon Evidence 5 DVD series and Book of Mormon Archaeology DVD after attending a live presentation by Rod Meldrum and Wayne May. We think the information and presentation on the DVDs is excellent and very convincing. It was so exciting that we shared them with our congregation [RLDS Group]. After viewing the DVDs, many wanted their own 5 DVD set so we took advantage of the half price special and ordered ten more sets. These DVDs are a must see.
Does it change my testimony of the Book of Mormon to know if it happened in this the United States or in other regions of the world? No. I know it to be the word of God. Do I believe it happened in this land, The United States? Absolutely. I cannot see it any other way. Would I want to share what I believe to be truth? Absolutely and I do. Do I want to visit places where the early patriots of our country walked and fought for liberty and freedom? Yes and I have. Do I want to walk in the footsteps that my pioneer ancestors walked? Yes and I have and I want to go back to those places. Then why wouldn't I want to know where those ancient civilizations of The Book of Mormon were and where they walked? I want to hear all sides of what others may believe so I can learn and then choose for myself to know what I believe is the truth. I am so excited about what I have been learning because of what Rod Meldrum and others have been teaching. I believe their words to be truth.
To indicate my interest in this subject the following is a list of books that I have read: 1. Rediscovering the Book of Mormon Remnant Through DNA 2. The Lost Lands of the Book of Mormon 3. Return to Cumorah 4. The Grand Design 5. Christ in North America I still think there are some "minor" details which need to be addressed to get the mindset of "most" members relative to the location of Book of Mormon Lands. As a convert I have clearly been inculcated to believe that the geography took place in Central America. A painting outside the FHC in Gallatin shows the Savior among the Nephites with Mayan Temples in the background. This is clearly anachronistic. The Mayans didn't build their temples until the Classic period which postdates BOM times.
From the moment I joined the church in 1981 I was always perplexed by the apparent lack of any North American archaeology to support Book of Mormon history. After all, Mesoamerican archaeology within the context of the Book of Mormon was all anyone wanted to talk about in the church and this only served to drown out other voices. Looking back in retrospect it's shocking to me that as a young convert to the church not ONE person in the church could point out or bring to my attention even the most basic and fundamental elements of North American archaeology. Squires "Antiquities of New York" and the existence of complex mound and earthen fortifications of the Great Lakes region did not even exist in my world at that time. How could this have happened? Many factors played into that but this much I know. Nothing is wasted by the Lord. In the Lord's divine providence I believe we are to learn from this state of affairs and let it strengthen our testimonies.
Glen and I totally enjoyed our Tour to the ancient forts, mounds and earthworks, museums and Church History sites. We also appreciate the words Joseph said as evidence of the Book of Mormon happening in North America. It all fits together so well! You can't help but share with others the excitement of this information..... much of which has been with us all the time!
Having been on the very first tour of the Heartland with Rod Meldrum, I can not but rejoice in the Spirit that attended us and the feeling that I had actually walked where the Nephite and Lamanites had roamed. I would encourage anyone/everyone to experience such a glorious experience.
I am extremely Grateful for this work. I always thought a Mesoamerican setting was a stretch and being from the Midwest I would always picture that sort of setting when reading the Book of Mormon. I thought I was alone on this until one day searching online I found Rodney Meldrum. I personally contacted Rod and he couldn't have been a more warm, humble, seeker of truth. Thank you for all you have done and keep up the good work!
I am very fascinated with the idea of doing research on Book of Mormon geography without the necessary "objectivity" required in the scholarly world. The comment "I already know the Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith was and is a Prophet" applies to me and thus my need to appease the intellectual world is not required. Embracing the teachings, experiences, journals of Joseph Smith as well as others for enhancing the research of the Book of Mormon lands makes perfect sense to me. The Heartland model, in conjunction with the Hopewell culture as well as current DNA findings creates a compelling argument for the Book of Mormon lands being located in the heartland of the United States. With all the new technology available, who knows what will be found!
I became LDS 47 years ago & have grown to love & treasure the Book of Mormon. I've studied both Arabian & western B of M history. After watching a loaned copy of Rod Meldrum's 1st DVD about DNA & other evidences supporting a N. Am. Heartland theory, I wept for joy; the Spirit had borne testimony to me that our N. American homeland is "this land"! Evidence Brother Meldrum presented from scientific disciplines is compelling, but what truly changed my paradigm, from popular tradition to bedrock facts of the matter, was 1) Joseph Smith's oft-repeated, oral & written averments of his knowledge (& later corroboration from his associates), & 2) descriptions/testimonies "hidden in plain sight" in the Book of Mormon, written by those who lived that 1000 yrs. of history! I thank my Savior, whose words (and those of his prophets, the same)are "a lamp unto my feet & a light unto my path". Thanks also to Brother Meldrum & others for helping me see those words.
I find the Heartland model to be compelling as it has been expounded. I believe Joseph Smith to be a prophet and the heavens were opened to him. When directed to send missionaries to the Lamanites, he did not send anyone to Central America. He sent them to America's Midwest. Joseph knew! Irregardless of geography, the Book of Mormon is true. It's teachings are the foundation of my faith. However, it is fun to consider that the Nephites very probably roamed the area where I live.
I firmly believe the Book of Mormon testifies that the United States of America is the Promised Land, choice above all other lands. It is the great Gentile nation and nowhere else fits the prophecies. The internal evidences of the Book of Mormon are now starting to be "unswept" after all these many years. The warnings to "Wake Up" are about this nation and are urgent!! We must do our part to help preserve our agency and get the church out from under the condemnation of the Book of Mormon. I feel that believing it took place anywhere else is part of that condemnation. I know the Book of Mormon is true, written for our day....we need to listen and heed.
I had followed the Mesoamerican idea after meeting James C. Allen. I asked him; of the other potential areas, why did you choose the Mesoamerican setting? He told me it was because that was the only place in North or South America where there was a written language at the right time frame. He built his whole idea around language initially. I also followed the research of FARMS over the years. Now I have found that Dr. Allen was wrong about the language. When I first saw Rod's DVD, I was immediately taken by how truthful and right this seemed. As I became a follower of these presentations, strengthened by Wayne May and Bruce Porter, I became convinced of the correctness of this position. I stopped my subscription to FARMS and have been sharing these ideas with anyone who will listen. The response has always been positive and often people get as excited as I have become.
I had many questions concerning Book of Mormon history and geography. Though I've always had a strong testimony that the Book of Mormon is true, certain things left me trying to figure out the logistics. Firstly, what happened to all the remains of the people in those huge battles and where were the weapons and armor left behind. How did Moroni get from Central America to the Hill Cumorah in upstate New York so quickly if Central America is where the Book of Mormon took place? Why were the Mesoamerican temples devoted to human sacrifice if they were built by the Nephites? What about the DNA evidence? As these questions were answered according to the Heartland scenario, I could see all the pieces fitting together perfectly. It seems right that the same piece of land would be where Adam, Nephi and Joseph Smith walked, as well as the resurrected Christ. It makes sense and fills my heart with an affirmative feeling of truth.
While an understanding of where the Book of Mormon took place is not essential for our salvation, with better identification of the geography puzzle, I find that other aspects of the Book of Mormon picture have come into clearer focus. Having explored the attempts of a number individuals at “piecing together the picture” of where the Book of Mormon saga took place, I believe that the work you, and those that you have collaborated with, have produced is the most accurate picture of Book of Mormon geography to date. With close examination, I see the prophecies in the Book of Mormon that relate to the land of the Book of Mormon fit seamlessly with the powerful statements and revelations which Joseph Smith personally declared about the same. The archeology that you and your associates have uncovered and reintroduced to us, and the genetic heritage that you have identified of the people upon whose land Joseph Smith both walked and talked about, has provided eye opening and solid evidence of a close parallel, of both the life and times of the people described in the Book of Mormon. Evidence of writing systems which have been identified with attributes similar to Egyptian Hieratic and which, as has been pointed out, is called even by some non-Mormon scholars “Reformed Egyptian”, as well as evidence of Hebrew writing, pitch not only a powerful picture of a highly developed culture, but a culture that closely fits what one would expect to find in a Nephite civilization. With the understanding that you pointed out, of how terms such as "head," as in "head of the river," were at times used in the day of Joseph Smith, I can now clearly see how the statements about geography found in the Book of Mormon and the geography of the land that Joseph Smith personally walked on and talked about as the Book of Mormon Lands clearly relate. With such close parallels it is understandable that those in Joseph Smith's day, as well as those of today, who disagree with his message, would be quick to cast dispersions on such powerful evidence. This we have both seen. However, it is particularly troubling to see in our time those who staunchly believe in the Book of Mormon, blindly embracing these dispersions, and missing the opportunity to add so much depth to their understanding of the Book of Mormon. We all have a set of rose colored glasses or, in other words, a frame work of understanding by which we initially evaluate new evidence we encounter. Though these preconceptions can help us filter through some irrelevant information, at times such biases can, if not reviewed from time to time, cause us to over look great and marvelous discoveries that can vastly enrich our lives. Again Rod, Thanks for the Vision!
I have attended and endorse the work being done in support of a heartland setting for Book of Mormon Geography and have always thought that there was some unanswered questions in support of a Mesoamerican setting. Soon the world will have more truth on the subject and we will be faced with the thought of taking this information as just one more missionary tool that the Book of Mormon is a volume of scripture and is the most correct of any book on the earth. That people everywhere will get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book. The Book of Mormon truly is a Marvelous Work and a Wonder.
I have been to presentations at St. George and they were well worth the time. This has explained all my questions from reading the Book of Mormon myriads of times. Finally the words Joseph Smith spoke and the Book of Mormon come together. I remember when the theory of the two Cumorah's came out and that never made sense to me. If they have to have two of them in order to make things come out then I had to throw it out. I just know of Joseph's Cumorah. When the Salamander papers came out and it was in the Church News and 2 professors from BYU claimed they were authentic, I told my husband, "These are fake, watch and see because Heavenly Father does not do things this way." When someone says that Joseph didn't really know what he was talking about then we have to assume that the Church is not true. I know that God instructed Joseph Smith and he was not an idol talker therefore, what he said is true as is the Church. God and Prophets work.
I have found the subject of Book of Mormon geography very interesting for years and have read many books with widely varying viewpoints. I have traveled to Mexico and Guatemala, and looked at some of the proposed sites there. Yet every time I read the Book of Mormon, I "feel" it is telling me that its promised land is in the United States. I am thrilled with the research being done by Rod Meldrum and the FIRM Foundation and I like the way they have presented it.
I have known for years that the United States of America was the location of the Book of Mormon lands. I'm a Artifact Dealer and have studied the local Indian tribes of northeastern Arizona for twenty plus years. Doctor Berry Fells book America BC was great evidence of the migrations to America from ancient peoples. I'm thankful that we are seriously looking in the United States for those great people of the book of Mormon. May we remember and help their children to come forth as the great people they are destined to be.
I have listened, watched, read and pondered the information provided by The Firm Foundation. I have also done extensive reading on Central America regarding the Book of Mormon lands where I was always left with questions. America's heartland as the site of the Book of Mormon inhabitance along with this new research has put all pieces in place for me.
I Love The Book Of Mormon. I also love history and geography. I was never comfortable with any of the proposed South and Central American locations for the Book Of Mormon because the prophecies concerning "The Promised Land" could only apply to one nation, The United States of America! I never argued with anyone about it, because the main purpose of The Book Of Mormon is to lead us to Christ, not to know where it all happened. However, when I encountered the work of Rod Meldrum and the FIRM Foundation, I said in my mind and felt in my heart, finally someone has got it right. Thanks for all of your hard work.
I was a Guatemala/Central America believer as the location where the Book of Mormon took place. My family and I even went on a "Book of Mormon" cruise. When a friend told me it all took place in the U.S., I wondered what he had been smoking. He gave me the DVD "DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography" by Rod Meldrum. I watched it once and the Spirit bore witness to my Spirit that it was true. I was converted. I have since read "Prophecies and Promises" by Rod Meldrum and Bruce Porter and feel even stronger about it. Every member of the church that I have talked to, no exceptions, says "You know, I feel that way too," or "I always thought it happened here--it just makes sense" even though many had not read or heard of the research by those involved with the FIRM Foundation. As LDS members, we have been taught how to find out for ourselves if something is true! Study the two sources mentioned above and pray about it! Then you will know!
I was given a DVD of Rod Meldrum’s presentation, which struck a vital nerve, answering questions which have always lingered, regarding the geography of the Book of Mormon. We then called Wayne May on the phone to get his DVD presentation, which only served to fire our imagination. We then had the opportunity, of attending Rod Meldrum's seminar in the Boise area with new and exciting evidences of Book of Mormon geography. Finally we purchased and viewed the five DVD series. The presentations only confirmed what felt true from the first moment that I learned that there was evidence to confirm what I have always believed. That America (North America) is a land choice above all other lands, and that it has been preserved by God for those and only those who will serve the "God of the Land"
I was given Rod Meldrum's CD on DNA evidence several years ago. Up until that time, I had been to many of the South American ruins and simply wasn't inspired..or interested. It happened, and where wasn't a concern. After listening to 10 minutes of Rod's information I was captivated... my reading of the Book of Mormon was been taken to a whole new level.. I love reading the chapters and feel I know these people, who they were and where they went.. the stories are more alive. Now I KNOW. and you can't take that away. It is a great feeling. Thank you Rod.
I was hooked from the beginning! I hung on every word Rod was presenting at a home fireside with wall to wall seats filled with eager learners. The spirit testified this is true! This is the land we grew up learning about in Primary - the Promised Land! I have never been bored at a seminar - I only wished that it would never end. Thanks, Rod, for pushing this great work forward. My testimony does not depend on whether or not there is only one Hill Cumorah; it is only made more full and beautiful with these evidences brought together.
I was made aware of the many evidences supporting a Heartland Model for the Book of Mormon sites at a seminar presented by Wayne May and Rod Meldrum in the fall of 2009 in Independence, MO. Since then I have studied the Book of Mormon and church history with a focus on looking for evidence to support or disprove this evidence. I have also viewed a number of DVDs expanding on the material presented. My congregation's Book of Mormon study group (Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) has also viewed and discussed this material. The evidence is very convincing. We have gained a new perspective and believe that this is the land of the Book of Mormon.
I was thrilled to learn about the DNA evidence and Mr. Meldrum's presentation a few years ago. I had a daughter whose husband had turned "anti" and he was throwing a lot of the "anti" trash at her and she didn't know how to respond. Mr. Meldrum's presentations gave me information which I related to her and she was able to defend the Book of Mormon and her belief. I later attended a two-day conference in Mesa with my family and was rewarded with so much testimony-strengthening information. The guest speakers were very prepared and the time went by so fast. I left with a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of topics including the Constitution and the pre- existence. Thanks for all the research and the new way of seeing old things. I look forward to other conferences and presentations here in Mesa. I have attended several presentations since that first one and have invited others to attend. Everyone I know who has attended learned something fascinating!
I watched some of the movies put out by T.F.F. I enjoyed them very much. I found them eye opening and refreshing. To me it has the most logical explanation's and the most proof. From the materials I reviewed T.F.F. has did it's homework it starts from what we do know. He starts from proof. FARMS did very well in the old world and The Firm Foundation has done very well in the New World. As for the movie the Testaments I believe the Lord visited people all over. It is a inspired and wonderful movie. I think these two groups are working with a labor of love on a subject near and dear to many. I believe gospel proofs are everywhere. However the plates were found at the Hill Cumorah North America and were placed back in the Hill Cumorah North America. There were ancient people all over the world. I believe we have here in N.A. the remnant of Lehi perhaps they are in other places too but they are definitely in the land of liberty North America.
It is exciting to watch the Firm Foundation evolve from its beginnings in the research and dedication of a few core contributors to an international organization bringing to light long obscured information regarding the scriptural, archeological, linguistic, geographical, oral history, and DNA evidences of the "Heartland Model" for Book of Mormon peoples.
It is very important to be able to not only have a testimony of the Book of Mormon, but also to understand how it relates to yourself as an individual Gentile or of the House of Israel and inhabitant of America. If America cannot be the only Land of Promise, where else could it be? Where else could the freedom of expression of religion allow the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the restored Church? How can you understand who you are if you cannot define from where you come from? Wayne May first opened my eyes with his magazine, Ancient American. What Rod Meldrum and Bruce Porter and others have done is to help fill in the gaps to my understanding. The Heartland model not only makes sense intellectually, it also "sings" to my heart. It has only made my understanding of the scriptures come more alive. Study and ponder upon the things that will be presented to you for your edification. A whole new realm of understanding awaits you.
Having experienced the spiritual relevance of the area surrounding the Historic Church sites, I find the heartland model a compelling presentation for better understanding the Book of Mormon. I believe we all need to have an open mind and it is my personal testimony that modern and ancient discoveries will enhance the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and our Prophet leader Joseph Smith. The heartland model provides us with an increased awareness of who the ancestors of Father Lehi and other Book of Mormon leaders [were]. Regardless of what we find or discover, our testimonies are based on faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His anointed leaders. We do not contend that this is in fact the exact spot that the ancient Book of Mormon people lived but it is presented as a plausible and highly likely explanation for Father Lehi's family tree. It is exciting to increase our knowledge of all the possibilities that exist.
My deep love for the Book of Mormon started my junior year in high school in 1966. It was the scripture study for Seminary that year. Every night I would read myself to sleep with the stories that have become so dear to my heart. My testimony of the Book of Mormon became the anchor of my soul and the bedrock of my life. I thank Heavenly Father daily for the Prophet Joseph Smith and for the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. I know these things are true with all my heart. With my continued study of the Book of Mormon, my paradigm shift occurred gradually regarding where I felt its history actually occurred from Central America to America. When I would suggest my feelings to others, it was generally met with such forceful opposition, I would just keep my thoughts to myself. It is wonderful to see how many feel the same way I do and for the new data that supports this position.
My experience with the Heartland research began after my home teacher and wife took the summer 2008 Heartland tour. They were very excited and enthusiastic. I then read "This Land - Only One Cumorah!" Vol. 1-2. I was hooked. The new model was so beautiful, so logical -- that the Book of Mormon lands, the Promised Land, and the United States, were all the same land! I have since been to 3 presentations by Rod Meldrum and have purchased numerous products which I am delighted to share with others. Rod is a compelling speaker, a consummate researcher, and a seemingly tireless writer. I approach my reading in the Book of Mormon with entirely new eyes now. I notice so much that I had just passed over before. My knowledge and testimony are strengthened. Thanks to everyone for officially establishing the FIRM foundation.
My family and I were lucky enough to join Rod Meldrum on a 3 day tour through the Heartland of America in the summer of 2009. We visited the sites and mounds of that once beloved people of the Lord, who's story is told throughout the Book Of Mormon. It was one of the most spiritual moments of my life! The Lord stated that the Promised Land would be a land of liberty. That only sounds like one nation to me...America. Thanks to the Firm Foundation my love for the scriptures has increase tremendously. I often reflect back on the feelings we had at those sacred locations, and the spirit continues to bare testimony to me that the Book of Mormon took place here in North America. I can't wait to go back; it truly was a life changing adventure!
My Husband and I attended the Joseph Smith Event in Midway this last spring. The whole event was well worth the time and money spent. It was very exciting to hear the stories of several descendents of Joseph and Emma, and how they have found the church, and their conversion stories. It is so interesting, and amazing. There were also many other guest speakers ranging from artists to authors, to musicians that shared with us their talent and love for the prophet. It was very enlightening, and educational to say the very least. The spirit was there, felt by all who attended, which was so edifying and up lifting. We laughed and cried, and enjoyed all that was presented. I would encourage all my friends to attend the next symposium if at all possible.
My husband is from Peru and was told his whole life that he was a Lamanite and that he grew up in the Book of Mormon land. Well when we heard about Rod Meldrum we didn't believe anything that we were told but promised to watch the video. To our surprise we now Know the Book of Mormon took place in what is known as the United States today. We can see how true this information is and how most of the stuff in South and Central America just never really fit right!! We also know that Joseph Smith knew it too!
My mother and I attended the 2 day conference at the Zermatt resort in the Heber Valley last Oct. The conference and the stay were wonderful. We learned so much and our eyes were opened to a whole new dimension. We felt that the staff and speakers were all so willing to share their talents. We were pleased with the meals that were provided for us and felt the prices were very fair for all events. We plan on attending again and we have told many about our experience. Thanks so much to Rod Meldrum and the Firm.
My wife and I were introduced to the FIRM Foundation last year. We have always known by the Holy Spirit, before even being introduced to this wonderful work, that this Great Nation, was and is the back drop and location of the Book of Mormon inhabitants and civilizations. We believe that it only makes sense that this Great Nation would be and is the place for the Restored Gospel to have taken place. We testify to you that the work that Rod and the FIRM Foundation are conducting is the truth, and that a great conspiracy took place to hide the evidence of this work and of this once great civilization that was here so long ago. That this great civilization was and is the remnants of the House of Israel.
I find the information in "Rediscovering the Book of Mormon Remnant through DNA" well presented and a rather compelling argument for the Heartland Model. The traditional Mesoamerican Model for the geography of the Book of Mormon needs to be reexamined and the dearth of DNA evidence explained. The only weakness I see with Meldrum's work is the question of DNA dating and the requirement to discount or reject "old earth" geology and evolutionary theory. I hope that with further Haplogroup X research on the Algonquin peoples this issue will be better understood. I feel that Rod Meldrum fairly and in a forthright manner addresses issues and questions and openly presents his positions. Critics seem to base their objections on dated books and studies which have been eclipsed with work published in journals in the last 2 - 3 years.
Our family has been blessed by the research done by Rod Meldrum and the Firm Foundation. Our knowledge of the prophecies of Joseph Smith and our testimony of the Book of Mormon have been greatly enhanced by these materials. We support this work 100% and have shared it with many others & will continue to do so. Our lives have been greatly enriched by this material - "By their fruits ye shall know them" is a great example of how we know this work to be the truth -the integrity of the Meldrum family is impeccable.
I would be pleased to share my testimony with any that would be interested in reading it or in hearing the same.
I have been pleasantly surprised by how well this has been received by friends to whom I have lent the video. So far, each of them have had positive reactions. The evidence is very convincing.
Since finding Rod and getting to know him more personally I know the spirit he brings in this work and I am sure the time he spends on his knees has brought us all to a place that seems so familiar to me. I have always known that the Book of Mormon took place in the Heartland of America, so when I found Rod and his work it was as if I have known him forever. What a blessing to have this coming forward in our time and to see the words of the 9th Article of Faith being manifested to us is so exciting. Thank you to FIRM and all that are moving this work forward and thank you to the Savior for loving us so much and always being there for us all....
The DNA research conducted by Rod Meldrum answered many questions posed by anti Mormon advocates in our area. It is wonderful to have a well documented, scholarly account available to share with those who doubt the veracity of the Book of Mormon.
The FIRM Foundation information has helped me gain a stronger testimony that the Book of Mormon is a historical record.
The FIRM Foundation is doing vital work to help change the LDS societal outlook on the Book of Mormon. We need not pigeonhole or deny what Brother Joseph said; we need not refute or apologize for it. The FIRM Foundation is in the front ranks of spreading and defending the truth of our ancient history. The Book of Mormon itself testifies of where this history took place through its numerous prophecies and promises; let us not be afraid to recognize them. Let us come together with the truth.
The first experience I had with the Firm Foundation and Rod Meldrum was at the 2009 April conference at the Zermatt Resort. Previously, my wife and I watched the DVD's produced by FARMs group, The Journey of Faith series. I had always been told that the B of M took place primarily in South America. I had visited some of the ruins in South America and I remember, absolutely feeling nothing special about the place's I visited. After attending the conference, I came away convinced that the B of M took place in North America. It just rang true to me. I served my mission in the Ohio Columbus mission and had seen the mounds and wondered what they were and how they got there. Now I know and wished I had the knowledge back then. When I started to reread the B of M again after having a different paradigm, it all made sense. I have also come to know Rod, what a genuine guy. He's become a good friend. Keep up the great work.
The Heartland Model, along with Joseph Smiths statements, and physical evidence is the only theory that makes complete sense. Thank you Rod Meldrum for all your hard work and research.
The Research is done in a cohesive, methodical and comprehensive manner. The pieces all fit into a woven tapestry of evidences and truths of the Restored Gospel and the lands where they played out. As science evolves and as new challenges are employed to "disprove the Book of Mormon" by the critics it is important to have an answer. Meldrum’s' work uses the very evidences these critics cite to overturn the distortions they invent to lie in wait to deceive. Faith and knowledge combine to create a powerful Testimony of truth. The research is both fascinating and compelling.
The sheer weight of evidence examined and explained by FIRM and it's scholars is astounding and inspiring! I simply cannot get enough of it! I would suggest their products to anyone that has an interest in historical evidence of the Book of Mormon. While the historical evidence is not nearly as important as the spiritual witness to the truth of the Book of Mormon, still it is incredibly exciting to see history seem to unfold and fit with the evidence found thus far! Great work FIRM! And thank you for your determination in bringing these important, scholarly and inspiring facts to the attention of the public.
This event was just fantastic. Anybody who is seriously interested in Church history, looking for facts and not fiction nor just Mormon culture for their beliefs need to attend. The speakers were great and extremely informative. Be prepared to be enlightened beyond imagination and your eyes open to things that finally all make sense regarding the geography of the Book of Mormon descendents. This is an absolute must attend event and don't even question it or think twice about it. "Just do it."
This has been the most significant scriptural paradigm shift of my life... excited about continued learning! This information has made the whole Book of Mormon reading more accurate to me. The book is true no matter where it took place but everything just fits now. Thanks To Rod Meldrum and the rest of the FIRM Foundation.
This information is a must have to understanding and appreciating not only the scriptures but also our Country today!
This research and information really turned on the lights for me when it comes to Book of Mormon geography. I have always wondered about the Mayan culture, and how it could have been correlated to the Nephites, with its human sacrifice, etc. And the "two Cumorah" stuff just seemed impossible. This just feels right, deeply right, and it has awakened a new interest in all things related to the Book of Mormon. Read it, watch it, study it, and ask yourself if it doesn't answer questions that have been nagging you for a long time. It answered mine. Joseph knew!
This research and presentation methodology ring more true to me than anything I have come across in my adult life. I have found myself getting as excited about this as I have the Joseph Smith Papers project. Well Done!!!
This research confirms everything I have always felt and believed about the Book of Mormon lands and the important role of the United States of America in the Lord's plan.
This research has brought a lot of things into focus for me in my Book of Mormon Studies (one Cumorah, Narrow Neck of Land crossed in one day, military expeditions thru the woods vs impenetrable jungle). Many of the events, such as wars and travels, depicted in the text are much easier to comprehend, believing these events happened in America's Heartland. I have intensified my book of Mormon and Gospel related studies as a result of the Heartland Model.
I have attended several of the Firm Foundation's presentations and have purchased many of the DVD's produced or promoted by the Firm Foundation. I completely endorse and testify that the Spirit that I have felt and the assistance with my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and the Book of Mormon have been greatly enhanced by the information that I have received through the Firm Foundation's lectures, presentations and documentary DVDs. I had a complete testimony of the Book of Mormon prior to my exposure to this information. The information has added strength to my testimony and answered questions that have puzzled my mind. I am grateful to the researchers and presenters for sharing their talents in so great a cause as the pursuit of truth. Hurrah for the Firm Foundation and its founders! Thank You!
We went on the first B of M Ultimate Tour with Rod and Wayne because we believed there was another answer to question of where the Book of Mormon took place. The Central American Myth had never set too well with us. We were not disappointed in that tour, the places we went or the guides. It was great. We learned a lot and had our testimonies strengthened. We have been to several conferences and have never found anything in the presentation that we could question - either doctrinally or logically. It all fits beautifully with our knowledge of the Restored Gospel and our testimonies of the Book of Mormon and the Our Savior, Jesus Christ. Stubborn tradition based on academician's theories just don't hold up to the real scientific and scriptural study that Rod is striving to bring to the attention of the members of the Church as well as the scientific community.
We were able to attend a meeting on the B of M geography in our area in 2009. I had no idea that the information given was going to be about the location of the peoples who lived during Book of Mormon times. As we started listening and learning, I was fascinated, and wanted to believe it from the very beginning. It made so much sense! A week after hearing Rod's evidences, as I was thinking about the things we had learned, I received a profound confirmation of the truthfulness of it. I was greatly blessed to receive a feeling of joy and excitement beyond anything I've ever felt before. It was so powerful that I could not have withstood the feeling for more than just the few seconds I experienced it. I have tears in my eyes as I write this and thank my Lord for His tender mercies and gifts. I'm so grateful to have been given this knowledge and to know of the truthfulness of it the way I did. How exciting to have this come forth during our lifetimes!
What a wonderful blessing it is to have the Book of Mormon in my life, as a tool to bring me and my family to Christ. It teaches plainly my need for Him as my Savior and Redeemer, and also it as a tool exposing plainly the enemies of Christ in a very clear and obvious way. What a wonderful blessing it is to see the "marvelous work and a wonder" going about from a country that is the host for the Lord's latter day work. What a wonderful blessing it is to read in the Book of Mormon of this countrys purpose in establishing religious freedom to bring about the prophecies and promises made in that great book. What a wonderful blessing it is to see clearly how the Lord has great interest in "this land" as a land of promise, fulfilling His promises of blessings unto its righteous inhabitants, or of destruction of its wicked. What a wonderful blessing it is to know in what Joseph said, without interpretation, concerning "this land" and of its former inhabitants.
When I first heard of Br Meldrum's ideas I was skeptical. I'd previously heard several different Book of Mormon geography models and had grown somewhat tired of the zeal expressed over what seemed to me to be a logical stretch and, ultimately, an unnecessary pursuit. I gave the DVDs a try though, and was easily convinced that Rod has got it right. I'm not only very impressed with the circumstantial evidence presented, but the whole concept of this model seems to make more sense in the big picture. It makes more sense that this country is and has been the Promised Land - the 'choice land' spoken of. It makes more sense that the Book of Mormon peoples would be found to be those who, in our day, have gone largely unstudied and unheralded. And it makes sense that this knowledge would come, not by way of a large, money-driven excursion with the world's eyes upon it, but rather as a result of a few earnest seekers of the truth mostly unknown to the world.
When my friend first mentioned some of the information from Firm Foundation to me, I was a bit critical towards the idea, but shortly after watched the presentation, and it wasn't long after the presentation started, that it all became very evidently - clear that this was all true. And though I already had, and do have, an unshakable testimony of the Truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, this new evidence has definitely added and enlightened my mind to a whole new understanding.
When my friend told me about this information regarding the location of the Book of Mormon here in the United States, I was very skeptical and didn't really believe my friend. He then introduced me to the video and since then I have been a firm believer that the Book of Mormon took place here in the United States. After reading the Book of Mormon, it now makes more sense to where the locations are and where everything has taken place. Everyone that I have shown the DVD has been convinced of the truths that exist. Rod shows very convincing facts about the Book of Mormon is its locations. I am very pleased with his investigations and research in the matter. However, no matter what happens, the Book of Mormon is true, regardless of where it took place at. That is what I admire most about this research.
When the truth is presented to a sincere heart, I believe the spirit confirms this truth to that individuals heart. I have watched the 5 DVD set and I know within my heart that the Heartland concept is true. I also believe it will be a wonderful missionary tool in these last days.
After reading the Book of Mormon from the perspective that America is the Promised Land and the place where the New Jerusalem will be built, it became very evident that any other place that might be considered for the Promised Land was out of the question. I would ask all who would do so to simply study the Book of Mormon for what it is and what it testifies of and the answers are plain and simple. Here in America is the place of Zion and all that it implies.
All of this struck a chord with me because I served a mission in Ohio. I worked in Newark and I've seen some of these sites, and this makes perfect since. In Helaman 3:8 it says "...they did multiply and spread, ... , and did spread insomuch that they began to cover the face of the whole earth, from the sea south to the sea north, from the sea west to the sea east." This is one area of the Book of Mormon that never made since to me, too many sea's, that is, until I received a copy of the first DNA evidence of the Book of Mormon. After going through it, I've shared this with not only my family, but with anyone that will listen to me. This information bore testimony to me of the Book of Mormon. I had already known it true! We as a people, are being given additional physical evidence and information that these things are true. We live in exciting times, I challenge you to find out if The Book of Mormon is true, then ask about this. Keep an open mind and heart.
As I have read and discussed with learned friends on the geography of the Book of Mormon, I am excited and delighted to share my new found knowledge on the "where" of the Book of Mormon, as the Central American location never felt correct. The more I learn about this subject the brighter my testimony glows as I share these insights with friends here in Missouri.
Attending the 2010 Spring Book of Mormon Conference in at the Zermatt Resort was an amazing experience. The information presented was compelling, spiritual and fascinating. I have long felt that there is only one Cumorah--in the heartland of the United States of America. The new DNA evidences, along with information regarding the Hopewell mounds, has only served to strengthen my belief. I would recommend this conference to anyone serious in the study of the Book of Mormon.
Since a child I've studied and learned much of the Eastern Indians (most specifically the Iroquois). This interest only grew over the years - and when first encountering the Book of Mormon it made much of what I'd learned to make full sense. In understanding this and the cultural teachings - one easily can place and see the events of the Book of Mormon come to life and have full reality. While acknowledging this information - it has also never bothered me that the Savior not only visited these people of the North Eastern US - as well as those who lived in the Latin America's; South America; Islands of the Sea; and many places which I might still be unaware. What has now been introduced by FIRM in their materials and extensive documentation just makes common sense! The proofs are easy to understand and can stand easily up to close observations.
I have completely enjoyed the DVD's. I am amazed what has been under our nose for so many years. It make complete since and was explained in such a clear and documented manner. I am very impressed with the research information and it has strengthened my testimony. Now as we read the Book of Mormon we are envisioning the correct geographical area and there is hard evidence to clarify it. Thanks Rod for all of your hard work.
Fascinating and compelling. Thank Heaven someone is pursuing learning in this area by study AND faith....not to mention some common sense.
FIRM has opened the door to positive thinking about the Savior's visit in the Americas and the knowledge of Joseph Smith on the matter. Examining the full extent of information and archeology in the Americas will help one come closer to confirming the Savior's work in ancient America. What matters most is the consistency of the historical evidence in the Savior's visit in America, not whether it was South or North America. This recent evidence helps bring the human mind closer to the reality of the Savior in America. Open your mind and let the Spirit speak wisdom into your mind and heart as you ponder this reality.
Having read & watched Rodney’s and Wayne Mays information I find it agrees with my own idea's over the years. My Grandfather remembered stories the Cherokee Elders told him as a child that coincided with those of the Book of Mormon, Also my ancestor James Adair published 1775 book "The History of the American Indians" Thesis was they have to be related to the Hebrews. Possible lost tribe. Much is yet to be learned, however too many things tie together to support Wayne May, Rod Meldrum and many others ideas on this topic. I know there were many other cultures, peoples, in the Americas, North, Central, South America lands. However they did have cultural exchanges and trade commerce with most of these peoples. There is a lot to be re-learned, remembered, un hidden and shared. I know the connections are there, I support thus far Rod Meldrum and others findings. Wado
I am drawn to the possibility that this is a very plausible explanation of Book of Mormon geography. It is very fascinating to learn about the archaeological discoveries of the Hopewell civilization and the DNA studies are equally engaging. I love the DVDs you produced and we watch them over and over, gaining new insights each time. Your research sheds a new light on my study of the Book of Mormon. I believe all that testifies of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of the ministry of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is worth knowing and studying. Thank you for your passion and desire to discover truth and share it with others.
I am fascinated by this research and have found a deep feeling of confirmation from the Spirit at the things I have learned. For the past 20 years, I have pondered questions while reading the Book of Mormon and have studied the life and teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have received answers to those questions through studying this research. For those people who are sincerely and honestly seeking inspiration and new knowledge, I believe that you will find it as you combine your study of the Book of Mormon, of the Prophet Joseph Smith and this research. May God bless your search for enlightenment. I can testify that this work is of God, is direct by Him and will enrich the knowledge and testimony that you already have.
I am from "The Ohio". I grew up immersed in the history of the Adena culture. We would drive past the mounds of Chillicothe, Ohio several times a year. I have family in Chillicothe. I was not raised in the Church, but rather converted in 1981, at the age of 26, while living in central Ohio. When I discovered Rod Meldrum's information regarding the heartland and its role in the Book of Mormon, it resonated in my heart-much like my experience when hearing the gospel as it was taught to me by the missionaries. I will continue to pursue this information with great vigor and enthusiasm until I know, one way or the other, of its truthfulness. I will tell you this however-my enthusiasm and joy has not lagged or been dampened; it's been an awesome, testimony-building journey!
I am grateful for the passions of individuals who can find the opportunity to share such important topics to many. I have found the Book of Mormon Evidence series very stimulating and well done. It has certainly brought together information in such a way that is readily and easily receivable for anyone who has read, pondered and studied the Book of Mormon. As noted by Alma, if the seed is good it will grow. This Heartland Model setting for the Book of Mormon swells in the heart and one readily knows it is good. It is intellectually stimulating and just makes good sense, especially if one is familiar with the scriptures and promises that are contained therein.
I appreciate very much the information which I have learned from Rod and his team. I like the way information is presented as "parallels" to what we know from the Book of Mormon, and what we know from archeological evidence. Keep up the good work!
I attended at conference last year in Mesa, AZ. I was impressed with the information offered and the simplicity of an alternate location for the Book of Mormon events to have taken place and how it answered my questions about the geographic locations without having to stretch my mind and fill in the blanks as there are no blanks with this theory. I can't wait until I can get the opportunity to see the locations first hand and feel the spirit that exist. Even after 2000 years I still feel that the influence of the testimony of the Nephites will be strong and unquestionable.
I find this research very interesting, and exciting. I now read the Book of Mormon differently, and I'm able to envision the scenes that are talked about. The findings in this research makes sense to me. I love to share it with all of my friends.
I first watched Rod Meldrum's Book of Mormon and DNA DVD in February of 2009. I was so excited about the information I could hardly contain myself. I soon listened to him and Bruce Porter speak. I was even more convinced. I began reading their literature. In December of 2009 I received the book, "Prophesies and Promises." Within days I had read it. I have always wondered about the Central American connection. After these brethren have "connected the dots" to all the information they present regarding the Book of Mormon and "THIS LAND", there is NO DOUBT in my mind as to the validity of what they are presenting. It is Great Stuff.
I have always had a feeling that the Book of Mormon happened in this country of North America, but felt I must be wrong because of all the Mesoamerica references. Then a friend told me about Rod Meldrum and the firm foundation. At first I was leery until I thought about my first impression and some things I had studied early that summer. I watched the DVD on DNA evidence and knew this made so much sense. I have shared this DVD with many others and everyone I have shared it with are on board with this concept. I have no doubt in my mind this is the promise land of the Book of Mormon. I truly believe we need to stop putting so much trust in scholars that we ignore revelation.
I have always known in my heart the North American Continent was the Land of Promise and that the Remnants of the Nephites and the Lamanites were here and nowhere else. Your research has proven what faith had born witness to all along. Thank you Rod, for all the work you have done to bring this truth into the light.
I have been privileged to hear Wayne, Bruce and Rod speak on different occasions in the last year or two. This research has been very exciting and intellectually stimulating for me. It has added a new level of awareness as I have studied the Book of Mormon and have sought to gain insights into its geography. While this does not alter my basic testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, it has made my studies more enjoyable. I look forward with anticipation as I come to those passages which relate "background" information about the location, architecture and customs of the civilizations involved.
I have been studying the Heartland Model for about two years now. Prior to that, I spent 40 years collecting, studying and traveling to geographical sights for the Book of Mormon in Central America and Mexico. We loved these trips, but there were always unanswered questions that did not "fit" the actual scripture accounts in the Book of Mormon. In addition, every author's book or research was at odds with previous studies. There is no doubt in my mind that the Savior indeed visited his sheep in Central America, but they are not the Book of Mormon peoples. Conversely, my study of materials from the FIRM Foundation gave me a "coming home" feeling of peace. It just makes sense to me as I experience those "a-ha" moments. I am loving what I am learning!
I have been through the Book of Mormon many times, and I always wondered about the locations of the different stories. The Heartland story makes so much more sense to me than what we were taught as children. There is going to be a "Marvelous Work and a Wonder" come forth in the near future, and this movement of Mr. Meldrum and the Firm Foundation group is just the beginning. May GOD bless the faithful to see what's right in front of their eyes.
I have found the FIRM Foundation seminars to be very stimulating and enlightening. It is a matter of importance to research all that we can on these subjects.
I have found the information Interesting and inspirational and will continue study information further.
I have never felt comfortable about saying that the Book of Mormon happened here or there until I saw this model. For me it really fits and has made my Book of Mormon studies more interesting as I can finally place them in an area and understand the terrain. It is also really exciting to hear non-member scholars talk about this group with wonderment and to think that this could very well be the Nephites. I am still amazed at how much evidence there is and how it was hid from the world. It is truly amazing to see this information finally coming out and it isn't members doing it. The national park where they have replicas of the houses and cities with trenches and word workings is really fascinating a place that I want to visit now.
I have looked myself for evidence and have always liked the fact that the things presented in this foundation are cited which allow me to independently confirm them which is where others presenting one or another side of the argument have failed to do. I like this fact, that it is given to the common man to look and judge for themselves and independently know that it is true.
I have struggled for years trying to reconcile my reading of the Book of Mormon with proposed landings on the west coast of Mesoamerica and that area being home to the Jaredites and descendants of Lehi. I am delighted to see research suggesting what to me is a much more plausible location for these great civilizations.
I have watched Rod's DVDs several times, both his original and his new 5 disc set, and have read his Prophesies and Promises. I have read the Book of Mormon several times. Placing the Nephite civilization in the Heartland of America brings the book to life for me. All of the stories from Lehi to Moroni seem to fit nicely placing the Lord's chosen people in His Promised Land. I am glad Rod and his associates have the courage to bring this information to us so that we may choose for ourselves what to believe.
I know with all my heart that the Book of Mormon is true and I am so thankful for the countless hours of research and hard work the FIRM foundation has put forth to bring the truth to light.
I served my mission in Central America, but was disappointed that few examples of Nephite civilization are to be found there. I am excited to see multiple examples of research and artifacts for a North American setting. I'm reading everything I can get my hands on. Thanks to Rod and others for your valuable work.
I was amazed to find that so much strong evidence existed for the heartland model and how few people knew of it. I thought you put together good case for it. I have never felt 100% comfortable with the Central American Model. I have been down there and I agree that the time frame and culture does not match. Keep up the good work.
I was taught in seminary that Central America was the place the B of M took place but it never felt right. I never believed there were "2" Hill Cumorah's. I know that Moroni buried the plates in the Hill in New York. When I was interested in proof, I first started reading from Wayne May and his books. Now I am shocked at how the evidence is right there in the Book of Mormon, from the intro (the ancient inhabitants are the American Indians) to the end in Ether that it is the place of the New Jerusalem (Ether 13:2-3) and in the exact center place of the "New Jerusalem" or the "Land of Promise" or the "Choice Land" (which are used interchangeably in the Book of Ether) is in Independence Missouri (D & C 57: 1-3). Now I have a deeper understanding when I read the Book of Mormon and read it in new light. I love it.
I'm so grateful for all that your foundation has done to bring this knowledge to light! It is amazing and makes so much more sense than previous theories. I love seeing all of the evidence that has been discovered and realizing that Joseph Smith was not confused when he talked about the Nephites and Lamanites being here in North America. Thank you so much!!
In 1995 I attended a fireside Dell Curtis and Wayne May were two of the speakers. What they shared rang true to my soul. I purchased books and magazines that they had available. I moved away from that town but the literature was always within easy reach to me. I was so happy to meet Rod Meldrum when he came to Logan his research and that of others was inspiring to say the very least. Thanks to all of your hard work! I am only one but what I have read, pondered and prayed about I know is true.
It has been an exciting experience to learn about "This Land" and the history of the Mound Builders and their possible role in the Book of Mormon history.
It never really rested well with me to believe that the geographical setting for the Book of Mormon was in South/Central America. I just decided that with a whole department at BYU and some scholars claiming it was there, then they must have known something I didn't. When my parents introduced me to the idea that the geographical setting for the Book of Mormon was in the heartland of the USA, it was as if I had a flood of peace come over me and I was filled with joy. Of course it was! This land is the Promised Land! Nothing of any great significance happened in South/Central America and it didn't 'fit' the qualifiers found in the Book or Mormon itself or what the Prophet Joseph himself said about it. It is true!
I've lent the DVD Evidence video to several people, and have shown this to Single Adults meetings. The information is fascinating, and answers questions I've always had--such as "why would it have taken place in Central America when there has never been a 'land of liberty' in that area", the bafflement of the "two Cumorah" theory, and Joseph's own words about where the Book of Mormon took place. This makes so much sense to me, and also explains why several archaeologists have left the Church after working for years in Central America and finding NOTHING to validate the Book of Mormon there. Of course they couldn't! It's not there!
An interesting and more logical alternative to the South American landing. Some paintings will need to be reevaluated that show the "Mormon Land"
I would love to participate as I have found that information is taken in more readily when preparing for such an event. I am willing to do what is necessary to help bring about the truth revealed by research and activity in such a group. I am willing to participate to the extent allowed by my current health.
Living in the Nauvoo area I have known of Indian mounds throughout the countryside since my High School years. I am now 55 and have just recently learned of the research that has been done by Rod Meldrum concerning the significance of these mounds, the Mississippi River, the naming of Montrose as Zarahemla and the importance of early missionaries being sent to the "Lamanite people" in this area. This is very interesting information. It makes me look at this whole area differently. This is very sacred ground and I appreciate the work and effort being done to bring history to life.
My family and I are avid readers of the Book of Mormon. We have always tried to imagine where the stories we were reading were taking place but none of the landmarks seems to match Central or South American geography. Some time ago we were introduced to this information about the "Mound People" of North America and the DNA associated with these people. Now as we read the Book of Mormon it seems that the geography matches and the types of archaeological evidence seems to correspond with what we are reading. The Book of Mormon now seems to come to life for our family. We look forward to visiting the sites later this summer or early fall and are so excited to see where the Nephites and Lamanites once lived.
Of course, I believe the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. knew a great deal about the former inhabitants of this continent. He had long discussions with Moroni, and was carried away in visions. He met many of the prophets of former dispensations. He was frustrated because the Saints could not keep up with him, and he couldn't reveal all that he knew. I have no trouble believing that what Joseph Smith said about the locations of Nephite lands was deliberate and accurate.
This information rings so true to me and I want to share it with everyone.
Rod has a very gentle way of banging you over the head with incredible and awesome information. Enjoy the FEAST without being force fed. I am convinced that our country the United States of America is the promised land. Trying to add South America feels forced and leads to the question why do they receive none of the latter day blessings foretold of in the Book of Mormon. I thank Rod for researching the DNA evidence; this alone is so important and helpful in defending our sacred record and beloved prophet Joseph Smiths declarations of the American Indians heritage. I say get on board now before it’s too late to have hope and faith of this new information I feel very soon it will be just the facts.
Rod Meldrum's efforts provide a wealth of information that greatly supplement my own, established testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. The message is presented in clear, logical, and rational statements, which are supported with evidence. What an excellent product and learning experience for all Latter-day Saints.
Because I live in the area where the Heartland model proposes that the Book of Mormon events took place, I was immediately intrigued, though skeptical, about Rod Meldrum's research. I had been convinced for years by the Mesoamerican model and, like many friends to whom I have introduced this evidence, the oceans question was my biggest hang-up with any approach that sited the Book of Mormon in North America. As I watched the introductory video on Book of Mormon evidences, the pieces fit together. I was impressed by how well it answered all my objections, and the illustration of the north, south, east, and west seas was the clincher for me--the Heartland model does not require that some of these be combined, as the traditional model does.
I have found the information in Firm Foundation to be inspirational and very thought provoking. It has increased spiritual insights into the Book of Mormon and has brought it to life for me. It has also increased my concern for the state of our country and a desire to do more to make a difference in positive ways for our country.
The conference I attended this year has me so fired up about the geography of the BOM. It just feels right, makes sense, and inspires me to want to re-read the BOM with a more critical eye toward the many references I heard at this conference. I am anxious to attend another and take more people with me!
The Idea of the Book of Mormon taking place in the American Heartland sounds right to me. It explains how Moroni was able to travel to the Hill Cumorah with such heavy plates.
The information presented on the CD was persuasive. It appeared to give scientific support to what many know through spiritual means. I would say that I hope it is true. The critical evidence is available to any humble seeker of truth through the whisperings of the Spirit, and that is unimpeachable. Evidence such as Bro. Meldrum's DNA research, is helpful but worthless without the testimony born of the Spirit. The multiplicity of evidences corroborating the BOM Heartland model provides not only scientific validation, but the logic and consistency to "fill in the blanks and connect the dots", increasing our confidence and understanding of the book -- our testimony of the validity of the book. Even more important, it reflects the words of Joseph Smith, validating my testimony of the role of Joseph as the Prophet of the church.
The products that I have viewed about the Book of Mormon Heartland are intriguing and make sense. Thank you for making them available.
The two-day "seminar" I attended was a great experience in my life. I was deeply touched and it seemed to bring the Book of Mormon even more to life for me. The information was presented in a very professional and well organized way. The truths taught in a gentle manner. The whole presentation was truly fascinating!
This has been a most exciting and common sense experience in making the Book of Mormon reading experience come alive as to a most logical and probable approach to an ancient people's history and geography. It has been refreshing to study.
This research is open and allows us to "Question with Boldness" as Thomas Jefferson recommended.
This work confirms what I have thought and felt since an early age. I have learned through genealogical research that several Algonquin tribes are found in my family history. The knowledge presented here hits home for me, and helps me realize how I truly am a descendant of Lehi. I like to share this information with others, and use it as a tool to introduce them to the Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for doing this work and making it available for all to read and experience.
This work is a confirmation of my Parents mostly my Mother that, "this" the North American Continent is "The Land of Promise" as stated by the Book of Mormon and confirmed by Joseph Smith. As they brought us (6 Children) over to North America 45 years ago from Argentina. Being of European descendents, mainly Spain, Italy, [and] Austria. I know this is an important work you are doing! I know the Book of Mormon is true! And I support the work you are doing, and enjoy attending your "lectures" and learning more about your research.
When I saw the first CD it made complete sense to me. By birth place was Washington, D.C. so grew up in the east where the Indians had tents etc. When I was 11-13 my grandfather was Pres. of Eastern States Mission so spent time each summer on Hill Cumorah and in the Sacred Grove. My father was raised in Ohio and I spent time there seeing the mounds and looking at the artifacts family members who were farmers had collected. My husband and I visited "Book of Mormon Ruins" in Mexico and I never received any Spiritual Confirmation there but when I learned of Bro Meldrum's research along with my past experience it all made perfect sense.
When one considers the statements of Joseph Smith, scriptural references, historical and DNA evidence, it creates a compelling argument that the Book of Mormon setting was in the Heartland of the North American continent.
When Rod came to Dallas and as I sat through the presentation. I knew in my heart that what he taught was true. It made such complete sense to me! I have never again since that time looked at the geographical part of the Book of Mormon to be anywhere but here in America, the Promised Land. I believe it and know it to be true. I am very anxious to learn more as he researches and studies.
While reading the Book of Mormon as a recent challenge by our Ward Activities Committee, over and over I had and overwhelming feeling that the U.S. is exactly where the events all took place. It just seems right.
This is one of the most exciting discoveries relating to the Book of Mormon that I have experienced. It may not convert people that do not know about this church, but it could!, because this information brings the promptings of the spirit. The first 15 minutes or so of the video I was skeptical and rather close minded to this information. It seemed so far from "what I knew to be true". Then I opened up and listened to the spirit. Then my heart truly leaped for joy. I think yours will to. It is exhilarating to listen and learn about more "hidden truths" about just how important this great land is and its ancient people. It also explains why God chose the United States as the place to restore the Gospel. I think that this rediscovered information has the potential to renew the testimony of some who have lost their way and just need a nudge to re-kindle the spirit inside of them. For those members with a strong and fervent testimony, your joy will increase even more! Everything happens in God's time and I feel that these truths are prophecy being fulfilled. It is time for the United States and the Hopewell Indians (Lehi's descendants) to realize who they are, and take their place in history. They are one of the greatest civilizations on earth in this most choice land God created. I feel it is time for the earth itself to speak up and reveal its truths about how great and important this land truly is. That is why this is finally being revealed. Men tried to destroy the archeological evidences left by these great people, but God will not be mocked. All will be revealed when it is time. I think that time is now. This information will help usher in the next era in church and world history. Hold on, this ride called mortality is gonna get a little bumpy!
A friend first introduced us to the Firm Foundation's DVD about geographical and DNA evidence for the Book of Mormon taking place here in the USA. How incredible and enlightening to see the ruins here in America and the 19th century drawings of ruins that have been destroyed. The things we have learned ring true to us as we have never felt right that there were two Cumorah’s and felt that eventually they would test the American Indians for DNA and find a connection there. We encourage all to consider this research with an open mind.
A year or so ago I attended two evening sessions in Show Low, AZ. I was impressed by both the DNA and archeological evidences for the "Homeland Model" for BofM geography. I am willing to admit the strengths of both prevailing schools of thought, but I tend to lean more towards the "Homeland" camp.
The FIRM Foundation is courageously guiding faithful members of the Church in the path of knowledge and faith. I pray their influence and messages spread quickly throughout the Church and world. We need more people to stand up for the truth and to let the truth of the Book of Mormon be known.
Attending a lecture by Rod Meldrum became one of those truly "A-HA" moments. Having been born and raised in Ohio, when he began talking about the mounds in Ohio my ears perked up and I paid close attention. It was like a light went on and the things he was teaching made sense. His theories have been researched and he offers the information in a way that encourages you to make your own decisions and conclusions. I look forward to future releases with more proven information.
It is the only explanation that makes sense.
After hearing Rod speak, we bought and read several books on the ancient mound builders in North America, and visited Cahokia, by St. Louis. At last, we have a model where the geography and archaeology match the text of the Book of Mormon.
Even though the Book of Mormon pages by themselves have been sufficient to convince me that the land of Lehi's descendants was within the present day United States, I am very grateful for the additional education provided by Rod Meldrum and Wayne May. Thank you many times.
Before I only believed in the two Cumorah theory, because I thought that central America was where Lehi landed. Now after studying the 5 DVD set, I really believe that the Nephites could have really lived in North Eastern North America. I still have some doubts about both ideas but it does help me understand the Book of Mormon better by having a sense of place of where these events could have occurred.
I am fascinated and thrilled with Rod Meldrum's research and theories. It 'rings true' to me as more plausible than the Central American model that leaves too many dots disconnected. No doubt, 'Joseph Knew!'
I attended a presentation in Lakeside, AZ. It was amazing to see and hear the evidences that were presented. It made so much sense that all I could think was-- duh! of course this is true; after all this is the Promised Land--duh! Thanks so much Rod Meldrum and the foundation for all your research and hard work.
I attended an all day seminar in Rigby, Idaho and loved it!! Very, very, informative and interesting. The time went by too fast. Keep up the good work and I'll attend any time I can.
I attended the seminar nearly two years ago and was fascinated. It truly gave me a desire to read the Book of Mormon again with an open mind to what I learned. It renewed a new thirst for me to read the scriptures with more intention of understanding and purpose. My mind is more open to feel the Spirit of this work and increase my testimony of its truthfulness. I was uplifted and could appreciate all the hard work that went into this event to make it powerful for so many of us that attended.
I feel that the Lord is revealing truths, such as the DNA to answer the anti-Mormon claims. Now when I read the Book of Mormon it seems to be more local, where before I supposed that it was in central America.. I know it is the word of God, by testimony, but this now makes it more like it took place in our home. It is exciting.
I had heard about this theory for months before finally giving in to listen to your side. I went into it with my mind made up that Mesoamerica was the place...it didn’t take long for me to start thinking differently. Now, reading the Book of Mormon and other articles on subject, I wonder how I didn’t see it before! I am excited to learn more and to actually get to see these places in person soon. It is very exciting. Of course it would be here in North America! This is the Promised Land, after all!
I have always appreciated the work done by archeologists seeking to make connections between Mesoamerica and the Book of Mormon, but hesitated to accept any of their findings. It wasn't until I was introduced to the heartland model that everything clicked and I said, "of course, this is the only solution to fits the puzzle." It has been very exciting to see all of the research unfold and I am eager to see what future research brings. When I read the Book of Mormon I am finally able to visualize what I feel is a real cultural background.
I have always been uncomfortable with the idea that the Book of Mormon events occurred in Central or South America. Intellectually, the various parts of the Heartland Model ring true for me. More importantly, I have found the completeness of the Model to be far more compelling than other ideas in that it addresses a much greater fullness of the kind of life that was lived by the Nephites as described in scripture. I know that Joseph Smith knew what he was talking about and this is the only model that fits with everything he said.
I have always felt that the Book of Mormon history took place in the land we call the United States. After hearing Rod's lectures, and Wayne's presentations, I am convinced that the setting is right here in the United States and that the warnings are aimed directly at us! although others are, of course, also warned.
I have attended several lectures and presentations by Rod Meldrum. It is fascinating to me that information about the people from our sacred scripture, The Book of Mormon, is coming forth like never before. The Book of Mormon bears record of its own truthfulness. The Heartland Model, which places the whereabouts of the Book of Mormon people in America, bears record of its own truthfulness as well.
I have enjoyed several of the regional meetings held and appreciate the comprehensive nature of the studies presented. Brother Meldrum and others have done their homework and were able to answer my questions. I look forward to more intensive research and explanations to fill in some of the blanks I'm still looking for and trust the archeological secrets will soon reveal themselves. Keep up the fine work and labor of love... it is appreciated.
I have found the information from the Firm Foundation to be consistent with the Book of Mormon itself, and especially consistent with the statements of the prophet Joseph Smith and the future destiny of Zion, the New Jerusalem. This information has resulted in providing an additional witness to me of the core principles that the Book of Mormon so majestically reveals. Keep up the good work.
I have watched the DVD on DNA proving the finding of Native Americans with Semitic DNA. I was very impressed with the findings and the documentation was very good. I have read Bradley's book on Zion's Camp and it was excellent. I have attended one of Rod Meldrum's seminars about 2 years ago and it was very interesting. From these experiences I have an interest in learning more. I do not have the time and means at this time to do more but would like to if, as you say, my ship ever comes in. I would love to travel and be able to go on the tours and hope to do this someday. I know this work is important and appreciate the work and scholarship of those involved. Please continue with this important work.
I spent many of my early teenage years attending what is called long houses with various remnant tribes here in the Midwest. As a missionary, I worked at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City Utah. The Heartland model agrees with the stories I heard around the camp fires of my youth. The stories of white Indians abound in this area and their subsequent destruction in a final battle on corn island across from Louisville Kentucky in the Ohio river. This is the place, not Mesoamerica as some claim. I support the "heartland model" and haplogroup x research and would like to propose a correction which I call "the Lake 'Huronigan' /sea west model". Simply stated, Huron and Michigan are actually the same lake--- no river connects them. The straits of Mackinaw narrows to 4 miles, this is a narrowing of one lake called, in Ether, Ripliancum: the largest lake in the world with twice the shore line of Superior (sea north) and half again the surface area. The line desolation/bountiful (St. Clair River and Lake and Detroit River) runs north/south, and since punctuation was not put into the B.O.M. until after its translation, read Alma 22:32 ignoring the second comma with the understanding that the Nephite in question is at the tip of Huron (sea west),a place on a line, and that it is 1.5 days to a place in the east (Thames River or north shore of Erie?).The line bountiful is not arbitrary, it is a shore line.
I was a bit of a skeptic when I first heard of this project. I had always heard and been taught growing up "where the Book of Mormon took place". I took it at face value and believed. Well my curiosity got the best of me and after finally sitting down and watching "DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography", I jumped ship on the old theory and am a believer in the great work that Rod Meldrum is doing. He has certainly done his homework in researching and the evidence is compelling. It all just truly makes sense. Now when I go back and read the Book of Mormon, I read and see things differently. It has given me a whole new perspective.
I was unsure exactly where the Book of Mormon took place. I invested some interest and research in the Belize, Guatemala, Mexico area, however, was still not sure. After viewing the DVD my interest area has changed to the Heartland area of the USA. It makes sense. Weren't the Gold Plates found in New York? It just makes sense. It is extremely fascinating to have this information revealed. This just further affirms my belief that the Book of Mormon is true.
I watched the DVD's that Rod Meldrum made regarding the DNA proof of the Book of Mormon in the Americas. Matter of fact I watched it four times because of the amount of knowledge that was presented and followed it using my own scriptures. I have always had faith that the Book of Mormon is true and Mr. Meldrum's research has taken my knowledge of it to a whole new level! Thank you Rod!
It is time for all evidences to be presented so the people can choose to research for themselves the geographical locations and customs presented in the Book of Mormon.
My husband and I brought our five (usually fidgety) sons to a DNA presentation. We ALL were riveted to the information. It is doctrinally sound and extremely interesting. Growing up in the LDS church in the Mid-west, I always felt a sacred feeling about the lands there. Now I know why. My testimony has been strengthened by this information and especially by the Prophet Joseph Smith's authentication of the area being the land of the Nephites.
North America is the "promised land" spoken of in the Book of Mormon. There is only one "Hill Cumorah". This knowledge has made reading of the Book of Mormon much more exciting to me.
The first time I attended a seminar with Rod Meldrum I was fascinated with the research. The DNA findings were most interesting and a great counter fact to the criticism the church was taking from the lack of DNA evidence in Central America. I have also attended Bruce Porter's seminar on the language of the Book of Mormon and he verifies what I have struggled with for many years; the concept of Central America being the "Promised Land". This never made sense and Brother Porter's explanations ring so true to me. The Book of Mormon prophesies that the Promised Land is the United States, in my opinion, not south of our border. I also have watched the DVD presentation by Brother May and what he brings to the table with the archaeological findings and geographical definitions glues all of this extraordinary research together. The Heartland Model has opened my eyes to a possible Book of Mormon geography that I had not before considered. I am grateful for the efforts of those who have dedicated their time to share this study.
The Heartland model just makes sense. I have reread the Book of Mormon with a greater excitement knowing that the events described are much closer to home than previously thought. Thank you to the FIRM Foundation for shedding light on this.
The information I have received through two live presentations and DVD's have confirmed what I already new in my heart from my study of the Book of Mormon which has given me a greater love and reverence for North America...the Land of Promise.
These DVD’s and lectures have answered many nagging questions concerning: 1. Where the landings of those early people were? 2. What "this land" truly means 3. If Mornoni had lived in Central, South America, why did he bury the plates in New York? 4. Why haven't we any knowledge of the great findings in the United States concerning the early Indian people. 5. The seasons, the migrations, and the great beasts. 6. What DNA means -where the DNA X is found. 7. What Joseph Smith said....he meant. 8. Such a delight to have another way to look at "seas", "narrow neck of land", throwing arrows, etc. 9. Has opened my eyes to the vast wealth of information out there. 10. Makes me want to tell the world. We haven't had anyone who listened, not recognize the truth of "this land" being the United States Why cling to the South, Central America theory...when the answer is so clear that Joseph Smith knew and testified it was in our America.
We found Rod in the very beginning years ago. We knew something was great, here. We believed and still do. It makes all the sense in the world that the people in THIS Land, North America also had people on this continent as well as those [who] went south to Mexico and down. But our land is part of the puzzle. I know that North America had people here from Jerusalem and others. I know because I asked God, and I got my own answers.
We have followed the development of the heartland model for two years. Now as we read the Book of Mormon, it really "comes alive" to us. We can picture in our minds the people, the places and the events so much clearer than we could before. We have always believed that there is only one Hill Cumorah. After seeing Rod Meldrum's DNA presentation, reading and hearing about the research Wayne May has done on the Indian cultures, and hearing Bruce Porter's testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith's knowledge of Book of Mormon geography, we believe they are on the right track. Regardless of where the Book of Mormon took place, our testimony of its truthfulness is stronger than ever.
We have found this information very informative and as we study more about it, it is very convincing and makes excellent sense to us. The more evidence that we see the more convinced we become.
When I attended my first presentation, it filled in a lot of blanks and answered questions I've had for years about the geography of The Book Of Mormon. That with the DNA evidence and most of all the words of Joseph Smith himself were compelling for me personally. I just knew I was hearing the truth.
When I first heard and saw the DVD on the Heartland Book of Mormon Evidence I knew it to be true.
I had the experience years ago of attending a private lecture by Wayne May on the archeological evidences of the Book of Mormon and was so interested by all of the evidence that is available and, literally ignored by the Farms organization. When I attended several lectures presented by the Firm Foundation I was excited to see that finally more people are becoming aware of this evidence and making it public.
After attending the conference in Utah I am grateful to have learned about the research that has been done so well. I hope to be able to continue in my search for all the truths about where the sites are I am open to hearing and seeing these wonderful new discoveries. Thank you for sharing this knowledge and look forward to learning more about your research.
After attending three of the conferences that have been held, I felt that so much truth was being presented as to the DNA and The Book of Mormon Evidences.
I had taught the BOM in Seminary years ago and now what I taught makes sense to me as to geographical location of places that are mentioned in the Book of Mormon. I never could figure out how Mormon was chased (from a most southern point like Guatemala) to the upper parts of New York to bury the plates in Cumorah constantly in peril of his life. All of this now makes perfect sense when we start to realize that the Hopewell and other Indians in America played a greater part in the past events than ever thought before. It makes reading the "Book of Mormon" more exciting as we really read the words that are given to us.
As I watched the DVD presentation "DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography" I was impressed with both the reasonableness of the evidences and theories presented and a sense of confirmation of what I have felt inspired to believe about the location of the Book of Mormon events and the sacredness of the United States of America and its founding on the Promised Land. I appreciate those who have dedicated their time and abilities to research and present this material. I am grateful for their candor and straightforward, non-contentious approach.
At this time my focus is to increase my participation in the group and to expand my knowledge of the Book of Mormon.
Being a convert to the church and having read the Book of Mormon in my youth age 14, I have always felt that the story's and events I was reading about were much closer then South America or Mexico. I can not help but think how many times reading the words "THIS LAND" and how it made me feel!!!. It is nice to know that there is now work going on that supports those feelings and belief. The two Hill Cumorah theory never made sense with me also, it is clear those events found in the Book happen in the AMERICAS. Said the lord IN A CHOSEN LAND THAT I HAVE SET APART FOR THE RIGHTEOUS 1st Nephi chapt 2 ver 20.
The information presented from this foundation is logical and goes right along with the evidences in the Book of Mormon!
Attended a presentation and felt to say your findings were to me a direct fulfillment of prophecy , " the truth shall be shouted from the housetops" thank you so much.
Everything I have learned about the Heartland model has been so eye-opening. I can't believe or understand why this isn't more well known.
Everything I have seen and experienced has been excellent!
Everything the FIRM Foundation has offered has been exciting, uplifting and testimony building. There is a great feeling of friendship and a wonderful spirit of learning and enlightenment at the conferences and in the materials. This is an exciting and wonderful project my husband and I look forward to staying involved with.
I have been in Mexico and the Heartland Model fits with BOM geography and cultures. I was impressed by Wayne May's archeological evidence and findings of Hebrew tablets in the area of the Heartland Model. Most of the evidence supporting this model comes from outside the church. It is an area of research we cannot ignore.
Hi Rod I do very Much appreciate, all the time and effort you have made in bring to light the Truth, of where the True Promise land has always been, as the Book of Mormon so tells us... Thank You again... I know it was alot of time and hard work.
I always knew the book of Mormon took place on the American continent, but it wasn't until I saw the connection between the Nephites Promised Land the United States of America that it all made sense.
I am a new comer to this new and exciting information. I appreciate all you are doing with this. I look forward to the new findings and information still to come forth.
I attended an evening meeting in February of 2010 and was very interested in the information presented. The video was informative and I appreciated the question and answer session that followed. I shared what I had learned with several members of my family. I look forward to learning more as additional research and study are completed.
I felt that Professor Wayne May was influential in verifying the artifacts. All speakers are excellent. The magazines are excellent. I had never heard about the Zelph Mound that Joseph Smith found.
I find the research done thus far regarding the Heartland Model to be very compelling. There are many books and articles that support this model.
I have a firm conviction that the research speaks for itself. The Book of Mormon itself testifies to the location of where it took place. If you put all the information together it makes such a powerful case that it is impossible to denounce. Thank you FIRM Foundation!!
I have only seen the DVD DNA Evidence of Book of Mormon Geography, but it was fascinating! I would love to learn more about this and other interesting facts. Sometime, I hope I can afford to go on the tours that are offered.
I was raised in Michigan. I remember as a young boy my mother having a friend that lived not far from us that would always pick up out of a field on her property many very interesting Indian artifacts. It is very vague now but I can still remember the many Indian artifacts sitting on her wall. My Sister just told me also that she picked up bones of ancient animals that no one knew what they were.
If you are a seeker of truth alone you will be impressed with information at your fingertips. Even more impressive is the evidence to back the research.
I've attended a couple of seminars and watched several DVD presentations. Bro. Meldrum has some interesting ideas.
Logic as well as evidence convinces me of the veracity of the fact that the Hopewell and Adena cultures were indeed the Nephite and Jaredite cultures of the Book of Mormon.
My husband and I attended a fireside while we were serving a mission at Martin's Cove, WY. We were very much interested in what we heard. We bought a CD at that time. We have talked to others since then and our interest has grown.
Some people say "I don't need evidence that the Book of Mormon is true because I already have a testimony it's true." There has to be a reason these evidences are coming to light. Everything is being questioned today, even the Bible, so a second witness of Christ is a good thing. I enjoy seeing these evidences and look forward to seeing more. It has strengthened my testimony.
This just makes sense. It leaves you with a stronger testimony that Joseph knew and was a prophet of God. It will answer your questions.
This research has and is filling a void that has existed for too long. It has affirmed my faith in the Book of Mormon in diverse ways.
05.01.08 "When viewing DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography, I was struck. (Has no one has ever thought of this before now?) Rod Meldrum’s thesis is compelling. I urge anyone who is even vaguely familiar with The Book of Mormon to see this presentation. Make the journey. The research is exhaustive; the message, sincere. I am eagerly re-reading the Book of Mormon in a new light."
04.30.08 "My father-in-law, [name withheld], passed the DVD along to me. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted my own copy, so I purchased one immediately. I just finished the DVD last night and already desire to watch it again. I found it interesting that when speaking with some of my coworkers about these findings, they are set in their ways of the mainstream speculation that many LDS scholars provide. Fortunately, there are others with whom I have spoken that are interested in watching the DVD (I work as a linguist for the Church in Salt Lake, so everyone of my coworkers is a member and has their own take on these things). I believe that all of the data combined with evidence that you provide is the most valid and correct regarding geography of the Book of Mormon. Thank you very much for the efforts that you went to in producing this material. I am already looking forward to teaching my children these things so that when they are in Seminary, they will not be swayed by other speculative ideas (I was given this speculative information while in both Seminary and at BYU). Thank you again."
05.02.08 "I borrowed your video from a neighbor and watched it this past weekend. Interesting stuff. It caused me to go back and re-watch the new BYU video "Journey of Faith: The New World". I would say their video doesn't hold a candle to the data you are able to provide. I know it isn't their intent to prove anything with their video and it's geographic neutral insights are valuable and inspiring; but I am convinced after seeing the data you present that they are digging at the wrong latitude. I would love to see what you could produce if you had their budget :-) I would like to get a couple copies of your DVD, one for myself and another for a CES friend of mine."
03.10.08 "Many of you were able to get to the fireside either Friday or Sunday night to see the presentation by Rod Meldrum on “DNA & Book of Mormon Geography.” I attended both sessions and enjoyed them immensely. Even after seeing the DVD twice, it was still so interesting to hear him speak about it again (and then again). There is so much information that it’s just hard to absorb it all in one sitting. Everyone who sees the DVD goes crazy over it. This is a major turning point in LDS and Book of Mormon history. It’s hard to express the importance of these discoveries. So, since there will only be 6 DVDs available through Eagle Forum, we are hoping that one or two others will also order some and go pick them up..."
04.14.08 "It sounds like some things are coming together for you. That's a good thing; the most important thing: is it coming together fast enough? As I ponder this situation with you, my problems now seem rather insignificant. I hope to do a great work here in my little corner of Idaho, but what you are being called to do is so much more, it's world wide and effects millions of people. You know I have watched the dvd a couple of times now. I've gone over this in my head so many times...I'm dreaming about it. Do you know what this information says about the United States of America? I mean...heck...you know what it means, but I mean really? Take comfort my friend. This is going to happen.
04.14.08 "I live in western NY where the Lord sent the first missionaries, the [name withheld]Branch of the Buffalo, NY Stake. I started to watch your presentation and I could not stop watching. I have always thought that there was some holes in the Central America Theory and I was nearly in tears as the narrow neck of land and other geographic sites were unfolded in your presentation. I am pleased to know that the DNA evidence now points us all in this direction. I am a Seneca Indian of Western NY and have enough knowledge of the legends of the Seneca culture to have always felt that the lands of the Book of Mormon were closer to the great lakes region than was first implied in the Church. I have felt in the past that the location of the lands of the Book of Mormon was controversial and now feel that the controversy is now over. I do not imply that this newly found info should replace receiving a spiritual testimony through prayer but this knowledge can not be ignored given the fact that the church has many who would undermine the weak in faith and try to place doubt into the infant testimonies that come into the church everyday."
03.26.08 "...there is something so engaging about your project that I would love to be a part of it. I know that the Book of Mormon is a book on faith. If the Lord wanted us to know absolutely he would have told one of the Prophets to make a statement about the geography of the B of M. I truly believe He wants it to remain a book about faith as faith builds testimonies and is another aspect of our test period here on earth. Uncovering mysteries and evidence just helps to reinforce one's faith in the truthfulness of the gospel. I originally was drawn to the gospel many years ago because it was so logical and answered so many aspects of Christian religion that I questioned as a child. It has been line upon line ever since and I love adding more to it with the details that you find. It is a great puzzle unfolding in front of you. I can really see your entire project mushrooming in the near future. The truth cannot be hidden forever. I am still so excited that the recognition is coming. The linguistics professor in my ward even asked me the other day if he could borrow my DVD next week ;-) I wonder who else mentioned it to him to make him curious now? Your work will spread exponentially soon!"
04.28.08 "On [name withheld]'s recommendation, I recently ordered your DVD (I was sure that it would not change my mind as I have studied for years the BoM geography and mapping, etc.) Having said that, however, I have to tell you, I just finished your 4 hour DVD and without any hesitation, I have to admit that I was clearly mistaken and I have now fully subscribed to your latest findings as the “most correct” interpretation of data findings “currently” available. This is the biggest thing I have seen on the BoM since I first came to know it was true some 28 years ago. I am convinced that once we can get the preponderance of energy re-focused around your more correct map of BoM geography that even more breakthroughs and refinements will come forth to strengthen to the already “firm foundation” you have so effectively built. Already, you have made me appreciate more the place in which we have lived the last 20 years (Upstate NY). I have always said jokingly to my Utah family and friends, this WAS the Lord’s First Choice”. Until now I did not appreciate just how significant THAT statement really was! Seriously, give me a call, these are amazing and powerful break-“with” findings that need to become more and more accessible to thousands if not millions of people. My heart and mind is really on-fire with this one..."
03.17.08 "I communicated with you by email about 2 weeks ago after I had seen your 4 hr DVD and loved it. Well, I watched it again last night with my wife and it seemed that it became more obvious and clear as to the truthfulness of your research. After watching it, we watched the newest deseret book central american theory, (I think was called the new world), and found it laden with errors, confusion, flaws, and underthought. Although it did contain truths about characters and certain pieces of testimony, it sought to tie the Nephites and Lamanites as coexisting with Mayas in every geographical region....thus explaining the Asian blood line so spoken of in recent years. It was also shocking how the scholars of genetics disregarded the possibility of ever knowing or identifying their DNA. One professor called it "impossible". It was so interesting that the entire documentary never really quoted or referenced scripture, but opinions like "I think", "they probably", "our best thought", or "most likely" occurred over and over again without any citations referenced from the BOM or Joseph Smith. Now that what you have found is true, a way must be made to put substantial amounts of money in even greater research with a major film of study. This must find a way to the general public because of its authenticity and direct correlation with truth. I fear that when many hear about your claims, many automatically fall into the category of "sure, here comes another wacko that has another idea differing from the norm". Again, keep up the good work. You are laying a powerful foundation. Your research is absolutely believable and convincing...."
03.14.08 "I am actually watching your DVD for the 2nd time as I am writing this email (just starting the buffalo segment). My Grandfather, [name withheld], is a Mesoamerican theorist and he spent the latter part of his life doing research in Guatemala. After watching your presentation I am convinced that this is North American theory is correct. I struggled all growing up because everything had to have certain conditions be true for anything to happen, etc. I knew that with God all things are possible, however in North America I find that not only with God are all things possible, but in the geographic area things are plausible as well. I have been telling every one I know about this DVD and explained in the best way that I could the concepts that you present. THIS THEORY MAKES SENSE!!!"
03.17.08 "Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to my husband and I. How exciting to be able to talk to the very person who is behind such a great work. I felt so blessed when I hung up the phone and so thankful that the Lord has guided you through this sacred project. For now we will put out the word and pray daily that this will bring millions to the gospel. How great your joy will be from the fruits of your labors! Thank you again and again!
04.29.08 "We were missionaries at the Historic Sites around Palmyra. One of the most often asked questions by visitors to the Hill Cumorah was, "Is this where the final battle between the Lamanites and the Nephites really took place?" The missionaries stock answer was, "We don't know for sure." However, when [name withheld], down in Mesa, sent me your DVDs they were watched with great interest by many of the senior missionary couples. You make some very compelling arguments."
02.24.08 "Nothing makes me feel better than someone finally [challenging] the Farms organization and apologists throughout. They do as you say, probably more damage by understating Joseph Smith and calling him ignorant than good as well as stating the Lord and His angels were not concerned about "details". Thank you for understanding and bearing solemn testimony of his divine nature and role in the restored gospel. He truly stated it best when he said "no one knows me". Its because he had a wealth of information but the saints were not ready to receive it (and other reasons I am sure). I was once a Mesoamerica believer. Good work. Good job on stating that the spiritual evidences of the Book of Mormon are far more important than the physical. Keep following the spirit and I daresay you will find out many more truths far greater "even the mysteries of godliness" [name withheld] of Phoenix AZ made me watch the video. Easiest 4 hours I have ever sat through. Can't wait for your appearance here in March to the Valley of the Sun."
02.26.08 "My husband and I REALLY appreciated all the time you've put into the great research on this video. Thank you again and again for also fighting back the anti Mormon literature. This video is doing so much good in more than one way! Your discoveries are so exciting! We came in contact with your video through our bishop, [name withheld], here in St. George, whose brother, [name withheld] had given one to him - so the word is spreading fast."
03.03.08 "I finally got your video in the mail, and I will tell you, you have some interesting points. What an amazing video actually. I think you might be right, that the BOM actually took place on American soil, and the proof you have is incredible. But your video is very compelling, and very believable. But Rod, you really did a good job putting all the information together, as far as the research goes. You just need to make the video a bit more interesting in the way you present the information so people won't get tired of watching the DNA portion and find everything you talk about the best thing they've ever heard regarding the Book of Mormon."
03.04.08 "Your research sits comfortably in my mind and heart. All people, especially LDS people should know and understand such findings. The major and I do say major, obstacle is breaking down the barriers of old south/central american supposed doctrinal precedants. Your findings contradict what the people of the Church have always pictured in their minds.....but somehow must be disintegrated tactfully and carefully. You have your work cut out for you. However, because it is true, you will definitely and infintely find a guiding hand of assistance. I am very conservative in nature but understand sometimes old precedants must be shattered to progress.
05.02.08 "I recently viewed your DVD and am anxious to order my own copy and share it with friends and family member and non-member alike. I actually served my mission in Guatemala and have been to most the sites there, so it was interesting to shift my “pair of dimes.” I commend you for your insight and research and I think you have laid the groundwork for much more to come."
04.24.08 [name withheld] is the person who introduced us to your DVD. I’m so glad he did. It just feels right! It makes me love and appreciate the Prophet Joseph and the Book of Mormon even more. I also have a greater love and respect for this nation and for those who have defended the freedoms we enjoy. It also makes me even more determined to stand up for what is virtuous and right. Thank you for sharing your insights and research with the rest of us. I look forward to reading the Book of Mormon with this new perspective, and I am anxious to share the DVD with my friends and family.
03.05.08 "Watched your DVD at my daughters in Lindon Monday night. She has been wanting me to see it really bad. What can I say it was awesome!!!You look like the son-in-law I never had. Anyway I am hooked. It is like a puzzle falling into place. I can picture so much more when I read the Book of Mormon. Thank you so much for your insights. I work at the Manti Temple and before I saw the DVD I asked a few of the sisters in the cafateria if they had heard of such a thing. Some thought I was crazy and one sister had been to a Book of Mormon class before and her husband went on a mission to Ohio. And she backed me up on the fortresses and the mounds of dirt back there. I know my testimony has already been strengthened. For I know the church is true and so is Joseph Smith."
03.06.08 "I just wanted to thank you for the time you rendered to me today as you headed to your destination. There aren't many people with whom I can discuss some of the issues we discussed today. I appreciated your scientifically based ideas, although I must confess, my knowledge of scientific processes is too limited to fairly judge all the merits, it sounds like you have arrived at some interesting conclusions which you feel confident you can defend to those more learned in this area than myself. One thing you must admit about the Prophet Joseph Smith is that he never shy' ed away from letting us know what he thought on a whole range of subjects encompassing all ages of God's dealings with man from the very beginning. Not only did he bring us a whole new book of scripture called the Book of Mormon which relates the history of prophets and their people from the time just after the tower of Babel onward, but he also added to the discussion of the history of God's people from Adam forward, including the possibility of the Gospel of Jesus Christ being an eternal message predating even our arrival on this earth in mortality. I applaud your extensive work on the Book of Mormon in North America and DNA issues. I think this will be an exciting era in the discussion which began in 1829 as the Book of Mormon was getting ready to come forth. During the first eighteen years of Church history, it seems all were pretty content with the North American theory, and then after the turn of the 20th century the whole discussion moved to Mesoamerica. The DNA controversy along with your work surely promises to re-open the whole field with a new focus on North American origins. However, as with any of the areas of discussion regarding Mormon claims to divine authority, the day may come when the critics have to move on from attacking primarily the Book of Mormon and will begin to focus more on other things Joseph Smith claimed to be true, and specifically those things which appear in our cannon and therefore cannot be relegated to Joseph's mere opinion. I can see the day when the critics may throw up their hands and realize that the Book of Mormon is at least "plausible" if not true..."
03.15.08 "I watched a portion of your video in the home of my father in law, who knew I would be interested in the topic because of our lengthy conversations about some of the points discussed in your presentation. He received a copy of the DVD from his mother in law, [name withheld], of Lindon, Utah. They were trying to get me a copy of my own, but I couldn't wait, so I bought my own. You have answered many questions and you have made me ask think of many more. I appreciate thoughtful and researched material presented objectively. I have been a pharmacist for 10 years and understand how to sift through scientific data and can judge the value and merit of quality research vs. biased research and understand the power of and errors in using statistical analysis. Thanks for working hard to present information on the Book of Mormon in this light. I do not need nor do I desire for the scientific community to prove to me the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, but I am happy to see credible research presented to validate what I already know to be true. I do not worry about the superfluous propaganda trying to convince mormons and non-mormons that the Book of Mormon was created by Joseph Smith or some other source than that which it claims to be from. I grow weary of vain attempts to discredit the prophet and the Book of Mormon and I am pleased to see a little bit of hard work to shed more light on the issue. More importantly, it is nice to hear opinions that can be confirmed by the Holy Ghost."
04.14.08 "I wanted to wait until I talked to my institute teacher to email you back to tell you what he said. He was very excited about it and said he had read up on books about the central america theory for a long time and it never seemed to sit right with him, but that he couldn't refute your evidence at all. He said he was completely convinced that the BOM occured in North America. I gave him the DVD so he could share with other institute teachers. Giving this DVD to him will help spread this around like wildfire!"
03.17.08 "I wish to express my astonishment for the amount of meticulous research you have done, and am nothing short of astounded with your adherence to scientific procedures to be as correct as you possibly can. I wish you the best of luck and my prayers. Ciao, il tuo fratello nel Vangelo,"
03.18.08 "I am the Branch President of the [name withheld]Retirement Branch... Once a month we have an "empty-nester's" Family Home Evening. Last night, the topic was your presentation. I am now a computer programmer by profession, I have a graduate degree in Physics, so I am familiar with the scientific method and know how to follow references, etc. I was very impressed with what I saw and wanted to see the rest. In addition, I wanted to give the DVD to my son and daughter (both married with their own families). I look forward to viewing the entire DVD. Thank you very much for making this material available.
03.18.08 "My husband is so blown away by this information. He always is searching for this type of evidence. He has watched the video twice already. And gets so excited. Thanks!"
03.18.08 "I'm a talker - but, I don't have enough words to tell you how grateful I am to you for all you've done !! ...Thank you for all your time and effort to produce this amazing DVD ! I'm so excited about so many parts of the DVD that my mind has been busy thinking over the many "pearls" of information you uncovered and shared. ... and knowing I own this DVD with all it's treasures of information, has made me so happy. I look forward to reviewing it over and over again."
03.19.08 "I saw your DVD and am blown away. I grew up with the [name withheld] family and [name withheld] was the one who gave me the DVD. Thanks for all your research. I have a friend who is very skeptical of the Book of Mormon. He is LDS, but he does not have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the BOM. His skepticism is based on the same logic you use; physical evidence does (doesn’t in his case) match up. I know that faith precedes testimony, but I feel this DVD would be great for him. There are people who have presented this theory before. I have been researching your theories and feel that you have addressed many of the original location problems of the great lakes theory and the haplogroup x issues. I have searched and I haven’t found anyone that is a critic of your work yet. I am very grateful for what you have presented. I whole heatedly believe the theory. This has helped the Book of Mormon come alive again."
03.21.08 "I have watched the Dvd I ordered from your website. I found itabsolutely fascinating. Thank you for all your careful research. Iappreciate the references, the thoroughness, the attention to detail, the dependance on the words of the Prophet and the scriptural record itself. Your theories and evidence make absolute sense to me, and as I reread the Book of Mormon with these things in mind, you can be sure I will be thinking of your maps, overlays, evidence, and suggestions. At very least I am open to these theories as being possible. I proceed my studies and thoughts on this matter with some caution, but with great excitement too. I will certainly be watching this again, sharing it with my family, encouraging my friends and associates to acquire a dvd to view so we can discuss it. Once again, thank you so much. I am currently teaching a class on the Book of Mormon at the University of Washington Institute of Religion."
03.27.08 "I have had the DVD on my desk for 3 months now never really having a great deal of time to view it until now (spring break). All I can say is WOW!!! First off why wasn't my copy autographed? Second how does it feel to be such a marvelous instrument in the Lord's hands? I am so impressed on so many levels and to think I actually know you. I can hardly wait to share this DVD. Oh my goodness all I can say is it makes so much sense and has allowed my mental view of the Book of Mormon to be so much clearer. Thank you for all this work and for sharing with me. Well, last thing I want to say is I nominate you for the LDS version of the Academy Awards."
03.30.08 "I've been watching for the last 4 hours, great, great, the spirit is so strong, this day, my testimony has doubled, wonderful message., how can we help?"
04.05.08 "We attended your presentation last night and LOVED it! My husband has asked me time and time again to go to Desert Book and find him a book on the geography of the Book of Mormon. The only books I could find were the Central American books- which [my] husband felt strongly were not correct. He said you answered questions that he has had since he was 17 years old. Thank you! I haven't seen my husband this excited about something in a long time. We truly live in an amazing time!"
04.24.08 "Of course it all makes sense. Kind of a "that's what the scriptures say." Nice to see the science backs it."
04.05.08 "I was surfing the radio dial on Saturday (?) when I caught the tail end of your interview with a local radio talk host. Caught the notice that you would be at the St. George Tabernacle on 4/4/08 and after attending the presentation, went on the web site and ordered the DVD. I wish you could have spent more time on the "speculation" portion of your presentation. I've never been satisfied with the Chilean and Central American theories of the geography of the Book of Mormon. Thanks for the fascinating presentation.
04.02.08 "The disc is the hot topic at church these days. The missionaries have all had a chance to watch it and I have yet to talk to the mission president about it. I hope that you will look for the day to come out here and let me know so that we can start getting the location and the news out that you are coming. I appreciate your work more than you can know. I am grateful to you for staying close to the Lord.
04.15.08 "As I read the Book of Mormon, it [used to] put me to sleep. Now it has come alive and I look for all the parts that I can say, that took place in New York, or Ohio or the River Sidon is the Mississippi River. [name withheld] and I work next to each other and we find our selves talking about the DVD's and the Book of Mormon about every chance we get. A co-worker by us has a map of the United States in his office. We are always in there, reading a scripture in the Book of Mormon and then trying to find the place on the map. Very interesting how you can now visualize the place [where] that part of the Book of Mormon took place. Just a short story - last week I went to my home town to help my 80 year old mother with her spring cleaning list. We watched both the DVD's and then her visiting teachers came and they sat down and watched. I told them about the DVD's and the web sites. These older women got real excited about what they saw. They thought I was real smart, maybe because I had watched both of them a few times. Thanks for helping bring the Book of Mormon alive in me again."
04.15.08 "We received your CD today in the mail and are watching it right now. Firstlet me say that you have done an EXCELLENT job in compiling all thisresearch and information. What you are saying just makes so much sense. It flows so smoothly with what the scriptures teach and Joseph Smith says. Again thank you for putting this together. It has been an answer to a prayer."
09.29.2007 "I have my church building scheduled for the Friday presentation. The problem is that if we have it in the gymnasium we would have to use a small portable screen which if we get a couple hundred people to attend will not be big enough. So, I am checking with the Stake President to see if we can use the chapel which has a large drop down screen. If we can’t do that then we may have to move to a different building which has a large screen in the gymnasium. My Stake President has approved me sending an email to the Priesthood leaders to have them make an announcement and he has allowed me to put an insert into the bulletins. I am also in contact with another Stake President and he is interested as well so hopefully we can use his stake center(next to the temple) for the Sat presentation. Pres. [Name withheld], the Mission President, will be viewing the DVD this weekend..."
10.23.2007 "Everyone that we speak to about your DVD is excited. Several people have stated that this is an answer to prayer because of weak testimonies and questions that some Bishops & Stake Presidents can't answer - this will assist them. The children are asking questions and this should give answers."
11.02.2007 "We are Elder and Sister [name withheld], currently serving in the Rochester New York Mission, specifically in the historic sites near Palmyra. We have just this evening watched your DVD on DNA evidences for Book of Mormon Geography. One of the senior Elders, Elder [name withheld] let us borrow a copy. We watched it with he and Sister [name withheld]. What a surprise it was to see that it was you, our neighbor that had put this together. And, since being here in this area we have had strong feelings that what you had presented are true. We feel that indeed the battles between the Nephites and Lamanites were fought here in this very area. Western New York is a very beautiful area, many trees, hills (but no mountains), rivers and of course, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Plus, the eleven fingerlakes and river flowing from them. There is much water here, And, it's pretty obvious that the narrow neck of land is that stretch between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. It is flat country and easy to navigate. We have never been to the Hill Cumorah that is in Central America, but the Spirit tells us that the one here is the Hill Cumorah, or Ramah spoken of by the Prophet Joseph Smith. In the Book of Mormon it speaks of the battle 'line,' and there is a very definite line near the lakes, it is Ridge Road, with valleys, cliffs and rivers nearby. The Spirit is so strong here as well as the beauty of the area. Thank you for that DVD. It is well done and the information given is wonderful."
10.20.2007 "May I just say I got chills clear down to my toes last night. It seemed to confirm everything I thought was right when I was a child until they taught me differently in seminary. Excellent in every way. We had to leave early last night and are trying to get a sitter so we can catch the second half tonight."
10.15.2007 "Thanks again for the great research. It is so nice to see modern science prove out the gospel."
10.09.2007 "My wife and I loved your presentation and are very excited about your research. The scriptures and Joseph Smith quotes combined with the DNA testing was powerful. I especially liked your Lucy Mack Smith quote about how Joseph would tell Nephite stories to his family, it helped me remember who Joseph Smith really was and that he really knew--he knew. In 1990, I went on a “Book of Mormon” tour to Southern Mexico and Guatemala with [name withheld] as the guide. I know [name withheld] is very sincere in his research and I assume that most if not all of the LDS archeologists are also sincere. However, it does seem, at least to me, that the LDS academic community has tried to outsmart the prophet Joseph Smith and has ignored many of the things he said while totally embracing other items. One thing that has always bothered me about the Central America theory is the quotes from Joseph Smith and even Brigham Young – they don’t fit in Central America. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I must tell you that after watching your video I had the thoughts, if these really are the Nephite remnants, where are they now? Have any joined the church? What can I do to help these people know who they are? Their promises are about as big as they get – I’m afraid we may have missed the boat with our missionary efforts to the Lamanites! I agree with you on Christ visiting the Mayan – there is just too much evidence. Too many of us have just confused the Lamanites with this other people. Please let me know when your future CDs becomes available."
09.17.2007 "My wife and I just finished watching your DVD, "DNA Evidence for the Book of Mormon." We were thrilled beyond expression to finally learn the truth and the evidence to questions that we have had for over 60 years. I served a mission to the Central States in 1947 to 1949 and my wife and I have served 2 missions together in recent years. We have always had questions as to how stone buildings were burned and why the records of the people of South America were found in the North Eastern part of the United States. When General Authorities would visit the Mission Field, the question as to where the Nephites landed would always come up. The same answer would always be given and that was "We don't know and it really does not matter". If we have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of the Prophet Joseph Smith, it does not matter. Now that a small group have tried to disprove the Book of Mormon by their DNA "evidence" then we need to know how to respond and to have questions answered that we have wondered about for many years. We thank you very much for all of the hard work, effort and finances that you have expended to bring about this very important work. We have never doubted the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith nor any part of the Gospel, but this only strengthens our testimony and we pray that your work will help those whose testimonies are fragile."
09.01.2007 "I just finished viewing the 2nd Disc of your presentation, especially the geographical part, and I've gotta tell you....my immediate reaction was that it all makes so much sense. I am utterly amazed (as in jaw-dropping amazed) how so many geographical clues are actually in the BOM for those willing to really study it out and analyze them. I was REALLY impressed with the part about migratory beasts and how its a slam dunk. How could something so simple have been overlooked for so long? And Davies & Squires "Antiquities" in my opinion is just mind-blowing. How has THAT been overlooked by latter-day saints for so many decades? I just don't get it. This stuff was so huge in its day, how did this big "disconnect" happen? Wouldn't early saints have had some familiarity with some of these obvious evidences? I had no idea that there were hundreds or even thousands of documented bone pits. I've always wondered if there were literally hundreds of thousands of inhabitants wiped out in a great last struggle of extinction there would have to be evidence for all these skeletons. BOM says there were a million Jaredites killed in war so where do you hide a million bodies? Their skeletons have to be somewhere. It saddened me to hear that they could just plow right over and destroy a major site of antiquity like it was nothing. In fact, I remember reading somewhere, I don't remember where exactly, that at one time there were tens of thousands of mound sites and that most of those have been lost or destroyed in the name of housing and commercial development over the past 200 years."
11.10.2007 "One of my brother's,[name withheld] gave me a copy of the CD's mentioned in the subject line above. My wife and I have watched the CD's 2 or 3 times now and have found it to be very interesting and we feel what is mentioned makes much sense! I've read the Book of Mormon many times (and my wife and I have visited Guatemala on a Book of Mormon tour) and the things you point out in the CD's are so logical, aside from the DNA issue. If possible, I would like to order about 5 to 10 of these CD's. How can I do this?"
11.02.2007 "I saw your presentation at the Columbia Village church in Boise. I was extremely impressed. It was extremely fascinating. I wanted to ask you after the meeting if you could use any future help in your projects? I have a BS in biochemistry with training in molecular and cellular biology. I currently work as a medical sales rep (so I don't use the education I received in those areas much). I would love to put it to use in some capacity such as the project you're working on and add to it."
10.30.2007 "I am a missionary working in the Mesa Regional Family History Center and some one brought a copy of DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography. I have seen the DVD's and find them to be of great worth, But I had to return them to their rightful owner."
10.23.07 "My husband, [name withheld], daughter, [name withheld], and I attended your presentation last Saturday evening in Boise. Thank you so much for all the time and efforts you've obviously taken to put together such a well thought out, easily understandable presentation. We hadn't heard anything about the DNA controversy, but were just curious about the archeology aspect in the flyer we saw. Our curiosity turned into such a blessing and we are so grateful to you. [name withheld] is actually my step daughter from a previous marriage and just recently came to live with [name withheld] and I. She's 16 and had a difficult life with a lot of turmoil and very little healthy building blocks or examples to work with. She's struggling. She came to the presentation with us more because she didn't want to babysit than because she wanted to be there. The Spirit, through you, was able to really turn that around and open a door. It turned out to be a wonderful experience for her (and for us). We look forward to the completion of your web site and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart for touching [name withheld]'s heart and helping her take a step in the right direction."
10.20.2007 "I really enjoyed your presentation tonight in Boise. Sometimes it takes someone outside of academia to bring fresh insights to subjects, and I felt like that was definitely true in your case. Also, it’s a relief to see someone take on the DNA argument against the Book of Mormon. I think people like you will be critically important to defending the Mormon faith against attacks by outsiders. I regret that I was unable to stay for the duration of the presentation (we had to get home to our four kids!), but what I heard was impressive and original. My biggest problem with presentations like this in general is that I feel that faith in the Book of Mormon cannot possibly be based on physical or scientific evidence. Moroni’s challenge remains the gold standard. My husband has unshakeable faith in the truth of the Book of Mormon, based on powerful spiritual experiences. My spiritual experiences have pointed me in other directions. But I remain firmly committed to my family’s involvement in the church, and I am appalled by the bad behavior and intellectual sloppiness of so-called anti-Mormons. I have no idea why anyone would want to denigrate what is clearly a beautiful, powerful faith. So it is important for the church to have defenders, especially in the current environment."
10.19.2007 "Your presentation in Boise tonight was amazing! I only wish we had 3 more hours to cover all the slides that you had to fly so quickly through. Thank you for taking the time to come up here and share your thorough and defendable research with us. I can't believe how clear it all became as you expounded on what you had found. Looking forward to the release of the forthcoming revamped DVD so I can share it with some friends and family! Certainly a testimony can't be sustainable based solely on this evidence but it is very empowering to see so much real, hard evidence of what we as a church have testified of for so many years."
10.07.2007 "I enjoyed your video presentation very much. I'm a Bishop in [city withheld], AZ and my son-in-law bought one of your DVD's for me. I had read all the information on the DNA issue several years ago and it raised a few questions but I realized that my testimony was based on a spiritual confirmation and there were probably answers out there that had not come forth. Thank you for finding them. It makes very good sense and I wonder how this slipped by so many students of the history of the Book of Mormon. I was wondering how I might get additional copies of your DVD? I have a very close friend who is involved with the Concerned Christians and I think this may be a great help to him. Thanks again for your tremendous efforts."
10.04.2007 "We have just watched the DVD for the second time and are very interested in your findings. Do you have any charts or maps of the lands where they people in the BofM traveled? Like the Land of Nephi, Zarahemla and Bountiful. If so we would like to buy some."
10.03.2007 "[name withheld] is our home teacher and has introduced me to your work through our church circles. Last week as he visited our home, he lent me your DVDs on the DNA Evidence for the Book of Mormon. I finished viewing both disks yesterday and am absolutely excited and thrilled to share this with my family. This is truly significant research and I want you to know how grateful I am to you for all your hard work. What an endeavor! Your work has already had great impact on lives of my family and friends -- and I want to share with you what has transpired just within the past 24 hours. Today, a troubled young woman called me from Boise, Idaho in complete distress. She comes from a very stable LDS family; however, she is trying to determine for herself whether or not "her parents' religion" is true. (The Lord's timing is always perfect, isn't it? I am constantly amazed that I find myself amazed with this truth). Anyway, as I was telling her about your DNA evidence, she resolved to rededicate her life to the Lord by commiting to the Gospel and to never settle for anything less than a temple marriage. You were the favorite biggest discussion at my book club this afternoon. And later, over the telephone with [name withheld], ...your name came up again. She asked me if I have ever heard of you. Brother Meldrum, I can't even sleep! I know in my heart that you are on to something very significant." The family has just started your DVD -- again. (Our daughter's boyfriend wants to view it, as he heard many of the naysayers in his Alabama mission refer to the DNA proof denouncing the church several years ago). I need to close, but please know that we are fervently praying for your DVD to reach further exposure into the world regarding this fabulous endeavor. Keep up the great work!
09.30.2007 "One of my friends here watched the DVD this week and had a few comments: For him, the real clinchers were the Haplogroup X DNA links and the quotes from Joseph Smith. And he said if the relics/artifacts are real, they would be huge, since according to him one of the key evidences missing from the North America BoM case is written language. He was not as impressed with the temple case against the Central America sites. His point was that the archaeologists know that the temples don't match the Nephite/Lamanite time frames, and therefore are the product of a Lamanite apostate religion that twisted the temple usage, etc. He was impressed, though with the dimensionality match of the temple construct in NA with Solomon's temple dimensions. This brother is keen to get the next version when it's available. He has traveled the Central American sites with his parents and studied them extensively. His name is [name withheld]."
09.29.2007 "I j[u]st viewed a portion of you two disk material on DNA edidence for the Book of Mormon Geography that Elder [name withheld] shared with me. The material is good enough to want one for my personal library. Thanks for your kindness and especially your valuable insights. Elder [name withheld] "
09.24.2007 "My uncle sent us your DVD, and I just watched it last night. Great work, I loved it and appreciate the work you've done."
09.20.07 "My step daughter was the first of my children to watch your presentation. She and her husband said once they got into it about an hour, they couldn’t stop watching. They were as amazed as myself at what you have put together. Amazing"
09.16.07 "Thank you for your research. My wife and I enjoyed watching your presentation and seeing everything so carefully cited. How exciting that there are so many irrefutable evidences! Thank you so much for this gift of knowledge!"
09.15.2007 "Thank you for your work. I’m watching for the 4th time. I am amazed at what you have found. It’s hard to believe I could have been a member for so many years, thinking what I thought. Thank you again. I’ve mailed off five to family members, suggesting they may be on the cutting edge of what will now be considered the “Book of Mormon” lands."
09.14.2007 "Dear Brother Meldrum, We have just finished viewing your DVD that was loaned to us by a friend. We find it very interesting and it conforms to ideas we have had for a long time. (If the civilization was restricted to Guatemala region, why, and how did Moroni get to Manchester, NY to bury the plates.) Thank you so much for doing this research. Our area has not been hit yet by the anti’s with their DVD, DNA vs. The Book of Mormon. However we understand that Chandler, just west of us, has been deluged with it."
09.12.2007 "I just finished watching your DVD and found it absolutely fascinating and insightful. It really validated some things I have always wondered or thought about. Since I borrowed a copy from my neighbor, I would like to know how I can purchase one or two for myself."
09.10.07 "You are right. The gospel is true and the Book of Mormon contains the everlasting fullness. Your work is ingenious and important. I am a 26yr old rm and I am certain that I could bring together close to 30 people for a presentation. Thank you for your generous offer. I will take advantage of your generosity and give you a call this week. Thank you again!"
09.10.2007 "I had the opportunity and pleasure of viewing your dvd presentation that you lent to my father, [name withheld], with some friends and we all enjoyed it very much. We, all of us, wanted to attend your presentation on Sunday but had other family obligations to attend to. Please let me know when you will be giving another one as I and the others who saw the presentation have a keen interest and several questions. Thank you again for your work and your time."
09.07.2007 "Great work and very interesting. What did FARMS think? I would love a hard copy or power point of your material. I'm in New York on a mission and loving it here in Palmyra at the Historical Sites."
09.05.2007 "I am a Senior Missionary serving at the Cumorah Sites. I just watched your "DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography" presentation and was so pleased to find the evidences to support my suspicions. Elder [name withheld]"
09.04.2007 "I heard your presentation the other night in Mesa, Arizona. It was fabulous and your excitement and knowledge of the subject was awe-inspiring. I have shared some of the information with my sister-in-law who lives in Col. Dublan, Mexico (which is very close to the temple in Col. Juarez). She is interested in getting a group together to hear your presentation. She will be contacting you either by e-mail, snail mail or phone in the near future. Her name is [name withheld]. Wishing you the best as you move forward on this and other projects."
08.26.2007 "[name withheld] and I attended the August 25, 2007 presentation. That was an incredible experience. Thank you for the hundreds of hours of research that would have been required to compile the data for your presentation. You have done a masterful job, we know that what you have uncovered is right. Hopefully this will have an impact and be a help to those that are searching for scientific verification. Like you, we have a witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon by the Holy Ghost. However, there is a certain satisfaction knowing that the words of the Lord are verified by the scientific community, whether they intended to do so or not."
We enjoyed the presentation last evening. Thank you for the immense and unimaginable time and effort you have put into this initiative. I realize that elements of this subject may be discussed and debated for some time, but I do feel you have some excellent material with good documentation. I am confident there will be significant interest in what you are doing, especially as the word gets around. I was very interested in all aspects of your research and presentation, but a little disappointed that there wasn't adequate time to present the entire message. Thank you again for the work you are doing. I realize that there may not yet be a definitive answer for all the questions, but what you are doing is valuable and I believe contributing to our knowledge and understanding with excellent research and factual information."
08.24.2007 "I arrived to the meeting last night a few minutes late and I didn’t hear about the SLC incident and I did not perceive that you were “flustered”. You did a great job and I appreciate your diligence in digging into this issue and sharing the results of your findings with us. I do plan on watching the DVD but it may be several days before I’m able to do that as my schedule is a little tight right now. Yes, the gospel is TRUE and I’m grateful for my heritage and those that went before and recognized and embraced this truth. Oh that we can be true to the faith to the end. It is information like you are sharing that will help many stay on the straight and narrow."
08.24.2007 "Just a quick note to tha[nk]t you for the experience and the insight last night. Also, thanks for your kindness in giving me a ride to my car. I sent an email to many of my friends and associates earlier today and shared my experience with them and encouraged them to go and listen to your message, and also to go with a spirit that if some of the anti- crowd shows up that they can be asked politely to sit and listen or leave. Interestingly, a colleague came over to my desk shortly after I sent the email and his head was spinning a little. He said that he is your neighbor and that he wasn’t awa[re]y of this project you have been working on. My friend is [name removed]."
08.05.2007 "[name removed] forwarded your email to us. Congratulations on the progress. We'd be delighted to have an evening with you in our area. Just let us know the particulars. I'm sure we can pull an evening together."
08.01.2007 "I certainly enjoyed the insights you offered on the Almighty's pouring down knowledge from Heaven on the heads of honestly seeking Later-day Saints -- I'm sure that's exactly what it will take to bring to light the stable blend of reason and revelation that will one day be acknowledged by all as the unshakable foundation upon which all truth is based. We love you for your noble efforts to be an instrument in the Lord's hand, and are praying for the Spirit to continue guiding you in such an important undertaking. Looking forward to its successful outcome"
07.31.2007 "Thank you so much, Brother Meldrum! The information you sent is indeed highly encouraging about there being many anxious seekers, who, one might say, "have been kept from the truth only because they knew not where to find it." Surely you are following Joseph's counsel to "waste and wear out your life bringing to light" facts that have not been evident before some of today's newer scientific procedures have made such methods of proof possible. Again, we applaud all you're doing and look forward to hearing much more about it in the future. Thank You for keeping us informed," [name removed]
07.29.2007 "I was privileged to attend a power-point presentation conducted by yourself in Provo, just a few days after the two PBS broadcasts on "The Mormons." You dealt with the DNA findings that included the Haplo Groups X-1 and X-2. With friends at home, and with congregations at church which have included some BYU-I faculty members, I have shared over the pulpit as a High Councilman, some of what I remember having heard you present. My concern has been to help parents realize the importance of giving their youth training by means of clear, personal/family experiences, to depend on prophetic counsel and the Spirit of the Lord to direct them aright, even when limited worldly knowledge and circumstances may combine to suggest otherwise. Listeners have been very appreciative of hearing about the recent DNA findings which validate the Prophets revelations on the subject of Hebrew bloodlines in some of Americas Northeastern tribes, and I've had requests for added information and reference materials about the scientific study which produced those results. I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation, and appreciate all the work you did to collect and put such vital information together. Thank you!"
05.12.2007 "We are so excited to have you come for our Family Home Evening on May 21st at 6:30. ...we are soooo looking forward to your presentation. Thank you again for sharing your time and research with us."
